MCCC Myth Busters
Advocacy
MCCC is a 501 c 6 and advocates on behalf of a strong business community in Montgomery County and Maryland.  For more information about our advocacy work, visit our Advocacy Page. Below are highlights of recent efforts:

AT THE COUNTY LEVEL:

Effective January 1, Montgomery County employers must wait until the conclusion of the first interview before inquiring into an applicant's criminal background. See the Montgomery County Government "Ban the Box" page for more information.

Bills addressing Minimum Wage and Earned Sick Leave are being discussed at public hearings this month. Find out more here.

AT THE STATE LEVEL:

Governor-Elect Larry Hogan will be sworn in on January 21. He will release his budget later that week. As part of MCCC's ongoing support of transportation investments as a critical factor in economic vitality of our region, MCCC together with the Prince George's Chamber of Commerce sent him a letter outlining our support of the Purple Line. Read the letter here.

MCCC also participated in a forum hosted by Congressman John Delaney (MD-6) on the I-270 Corridor. Find out more here.

AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL:

Open comment periods are critical to providing Federal Government decision makers with important information about the potential impacts of a rule or proposed legislation. The U.S. Small Business Administration has published a call for comments on proposed rules for subcontracting. See the Federal Register notice here. The comment period ends February 27. Be sure to attend MCCC's GovConNet Member Meeting on January 14 to learn about the potential impacts of the proposals and how you can provide input.
