Ban the Box
MCCC submitted written testimony on Bill 36-14, Human Rights and Civil Liberties - Fair Criminal Record Screening Standards. The next step is a joint committee hearing by HHS and Public Safety on October 9. MCCC along with other local chambers is working to amend the bill on issues of timing, notification, penalties and exemptions.
Benchmarking Working Group
MCCC participated in an inaugural meeting organized by the Department of Environmental Protection as part of Bill 2-14: Environmental Sustainability - Energy - Building Benchmarking which passed earlier this year. The bill requires that Montgomery County begin the benchmarking process in its own facilities before rolling out the program to commercial properties.
