Legislation Bulletin

Bill 36-14, Human Rights and Civil Liberties - Fair Criminal Record Screening Standards, will be taken up by the PHED and Public Safety Committees this fall. The public hearing is September 9.This legislation would prohibit most employers from conducting a criminal background check before making a conditional offer of employment. In addition, it outlines notification and authorizes the Human Rights Commission to award certain relief.
