This Week at the General Assembly: February 7, 2014
Delegate Reznik: Sponsor of HB487.

Delegate Kirill Reznick (D-39) introduced legislation to address an important aspect of the Small Business Reserve Program. Senator Karen Montgomery  (D-14) introduced similar legislation in the Senate. Ilaya Hopkins, VP, Public Affairs, MCCC, testified in support of HB487, which seeks to repeal a sunset provision created in 2012 that expanded the definition of small business. By expanding the definition of a small business to be either the number of employees or amount of revenue, the marketplace is effectively opened up to more small businesses.

MCCC went on record opposing SB 343/HB 447- Wireless Landline Telephone Service at two hearings this week. The MCCC 2014 Legislative Agenda advocates for supporting a vibrant economy which encourages innovation and improves the climate for doing business in Maryland. Ultimately we believe that this bill would unnecessarily slow the introduction of advanced wireless service in a highly competitive market.
