From the Head of School
Shabbat Shalom
Dear Yavneh Family,

I am so proud to report that our students have successfully completed a rigorous battery of academic exams in Math, English, Science, History and Hebrew during the past week, preparing them well for the rigor of college exams (as many of our alumni have told us over the years).  All of this would not have been possible without the healthy exam snacks provided by our wonderful PTO moms and dads.

One of the most fundamental precepts of Judaism is the commandment to love G-D. In fact its source is the opening line of the first paragraph of Shma, V'ahovta. As it says quite explicitly "You shall love Hashem your G-D with all of your heart." Yet, this requirement seems to be implausible to mandate, if not impossible to fulfill. How can we be forced to love someone or something; that is an unfair expectation? Can we legislate emotions like love or hate?

Thank you, Yavneh PTO!!

Continuing a proud Yavneh tradition, our wonderful PTO provided snacks for the students during final exam week.  The project this year was organized by Brenda Time, and was ably supported by Mindy Cohen, Alissa Krieger, Joan Weyser, Gianina Abouzaglo, Brenda Bliss and David Weiss.  The students and teachers were so appreciative to have all this great food prior to exams.   Thank you to everyone for their time and support!!
