From the Head of School ~
   Dr. David Portnoy

Dear Yavneh Family,

Graduation and final exams remind us of the cyclical nature of the academic year.  (Fact: the dream where you show up for an exam in a course you did not take is one of the most widespread among college-educated subjects.)

Here at Yavneh, graduation for the Class of 2015 was a true family affair in our Schultz Family Gymnasium.  With each student speaking during the ceremony, and my individually addressing each graduate, it was a celebration that was dignified and warm, as we feted the twenty-nine members of our newest crop of alumni.  Headed next year to Israel and colleges across the U.S., this class will continue to make a positive impact on those around them. Hatzlacha - best of luck to each and every one of you!

As for our new and returning students, we are so excited to welcome a terrific crop of freshmen from Akiba, Levine, Torah Day School and other public and private schools.  And our rising sophomore, junior and senior classes possess all the intellect, energy and enthusiasm to ensure that the 2015-16 school year will be a great one at Yavneh!

On behalf of the entire faculty and staff, I wish you a wonderful and rejuvenating summer.  We look forward to welcoming y'all back in the Fall.

Shabbat Shalom and Am Yisrael Chai!

Dr. P

REDESIGNED SAT/PSAT

On October 14, 2015 sophomores and juniors will have their chance to experience the redesigned test rolled out from College Board.  The October test will allow students to preview and practice the redesigned SAT which will start being administered  during the March 2016 test.  There are several websites that offer advice and preparation. Some students and parents have asked about practicing, understanding and learning about the test  over the summer.

College Board along with Khan Academy has just launched an Official SAT Practice for the Redesigned SAT.  Practice materials for the redesigned SAT are now live on KhanAcademy.org, making free, world-class, personalized online practice available for all students.
