From the Head of School ~
   Dr. David Portnoy

Dear Yavneh Family,

Our community is clearly at its best when we reach beyond our comfort zone, stretching to fulfill our potential: academically, religiously and in Tikkun Olam.

It was indeed great honor to be recognized as a Top Private School for Best Academics: #9 in DFW and #20 in the state of Texas!  The credit, of course, goes to our outstanding faculty and staff, together with wonderfully committed parents, all supporting the best student body anywhere in the world!

And what were these Top Academic students doing this past Sunday, all day?  For the 13th year in a row - their Bar/Bat Mitzvah year - Yavneh students hosted their Points For Peace Tournament run by our Students Against Terrorism - raising more than $40,000 to benefit the Koby Mandell Foundation in Israel.  In the words of Rabbi Seth Mandell, who came all the way from Israel to participate, our Yavneh efforts are "unique among teenagers the world over." Yashar Koach to all our student leaders and those who supported them!

As we head into Passover break, please take a few minutes to read Rabbi Tannenbaum's moving Dvar Torah about the importance of the holiday throughout Jewish History.  And for a lighter look, we combed through the many music videos, etc. and are pleased to share this one with youfrom our friends at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa.  With our strong focus on academics, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) in particular, it just felt right.
