Dear Yavneh Family,
As we continued to cope with the cold weather at Yavneh, we were blessed with moments of great warmth this past week.
On Tuesday evening in our beautiful Beit Midrash, we were honored to host Holocaust survivor, entrepreneur and JCC Bookfest author Martin Greenfield in a special event to benefit our seniors' upcoming March of the Living (MOL) trip to Poland and Israel. In front of an audience of two hundred students, parents and community members, Mr. Greenfield shared his honest and heartfelt story, from his boyhood in Pavlovo, Czechoslovakia to his role as custom tailor to U.S. Presidents and Hollywood stars, culminating in a message of hope and resilience: "You have been blessed with Jewish values. America is a country filled with opportunities. Work hard and you can achieve your dreams."
The evening also provided leaders of the Dallas Jewish community the opportunity to hear beautifully crafted and delivered words from Yavneh alumna Laura Rose Kreditor, Class of 2009. Rose shared her personal reflections with a group of MOL supporters reflecting
on her Yavneh trip nearly six years ago: "The March of the Living is not a normal type of experience. It is an experience for the body and the soul and for friendships and personal growth. It is a beautiful executed dichotomy of mourning in Poland and celebrating in Israel." (Click here to read and see Rose's full remarks.) Special thanks to Yavneh trustee and MOL leader Pam Fine for her on-stage interviewing skills and leadership of this marvelous event - and to everyone who helped to support the Class of 2015 "trip of a lifetime."

Chag Purim Sameach
On Wednesday we marked the Fast of Esther (Ta'anit Esther) with a full day of prayers and study. Unfortunately, a pending ice storm forced us to cancel our on-campus Purim Megillah reading, meal and senior spiel (postponed to a later date).
Despite the weather, we pulled off a ruach-filled Purim at the Wohlstadters, with Maariv ably led by Meir Epstein '15, featuring amazing Megillah reading by Rabbi Tannenbaum (dressed as the patriarch of a family of lumberjacks - a nice play on their last name), with a cameo grammen appearance by Rabbi Lomner and
Dr. P.
Though the temperatures were low, our spirits were high!
