From the Head of School ~
   Dr. David Portnoy

Dear Yavneh Family,

I thought the roof was going to come off the Schultz Family gym this week as all three Yavneh basketball teams hosted Dallas Lutheran for a trio of exciting games and Senior Night.  Indeed, the cheering from the student section alone often reached decibel levels rarely heard on Merit Drive, with parents, teachers and guest kvelling along.

But that wasn't all: our Students 4 Students organizers used the night as a fundraiser, and conscience-raiser, as they explained to students, parents, faculty and other visitors their latest efforts to extend education to African schools, building on a proud tradition of Tikkun Olam - repairing the world - that informs so much of what we do at Yavneh (see below).

In short, it was a special night highlighting two things our students and families do best: celebrate each other and extend that love and concern beyond our school community.

We are all blessed to be part of this community, and nights like this serve as a great reminder of it.

Shabbat Shalom, and Go Bulldogs!

Dr. P
