Welcome back to The Children's Garden!  It's been an eventful few weeks.  Highlights include:  Elsa had surgery and will be coming home soon, Zach is awaiting surgery and Christopher and Amber joined our home, Jack's medical situation is considerably more complicated than originally thought.   Everyone is teething.
In addition we are ramping up to start our new program "One Less Orphan", helping babies stay with their families.

Focus on Christopher
Christopher joined us mid-April and is currently our oldest.  He loves loud music, hitting things with wooden blocks and will soon be walking Christopher has already been through two surgeries and will have his third this Autumn. Our job at The Children's Garden is to love him and get him strong and healthy so he is ready for his next surgery.

We are looking for monthly sponsorship for Christopher.  If you would like to help please email njkerwin@gmail.com.

What if we made available to poor families the resources given to orphans???
Currently we are working on structuring "One Less Orphan" to bring on poor rural families with disabled children and helping financially and with navigating the complicated medical system to get their children the same quality medical care given to many orphans.  This Summer we intend to start identifying families and bringing them to Shanghai and walking with them as their children get the attention they need.

TCG welcomes volunteers with all skill sets!  We need volunteers to do administrative work, organizing donations, fundraising, and to cuddle babies.

We are also looking for foster families and people to sponsor our individual children.  If you have have any ideas of how to help or just want to lend a hand please send us an email.

A note from Naomi
A typical afternoon.
Coming together is community, Keeping together is progress, Working together is success.  - Henry Ford

This past month has been "more complicated" than expected;  Jack's medical condition, setting up CSR, working out One Less Orphan etc. .

In spite of all of the complications we are making good progress, especially with "One Less Orphan".  My biggest passion, helping poor rural families get the medical care or educational support needed so their children can have their best lives.
All of this takes money. Shanghai is expensive, but it is also where the best medical care is available. While often we can find funding for surgeries and medical care, the home, rent, nanny salaries, formula, utilities add up.   We are investigating corporate sponsorship but will need supporters to help monthly donations so we can plan.  At this point only the nannies are salaried.  If you would like to donate to a specific child or for a specific need it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all!  Without your kind support The Childrens Garden couldn't exist.
