Celebrate the High Holidays with Voices & Visions!

Rosh Hashanah is a holiday of new beginnings - renewing our connection to the world and community. Mount this poster in your organization's lobby and post the question beside it:

As you begin this new year what are words YOU associate with "community"? What can we do to strengthen OUR community?

"A human being is like a letter of the alphabet: to produce a word, it must combine with another."

Yom Kippur is a holiday which is meant to have people focus on repairing relationships and "return" to our higher selves. Try this exercise with a class, your family, or other small group: Bring the poster, an empty coffee can, and scraps of paper. After looking at the poster, have each person take a piece of paper and write on it an aspect of a relationship they will try to fix this year. Fold the note with their name on the outside, and place it in the container. Next year, read your note and reflect on the progress you have made.

"If you believe breaking is possible, believe fixing is possible."

National Grandparent's Day is celebrated in the month of September.

A wonderful gift might be simply making your own Tikkun Olam card, telling your grandparents how you want to carry on their work of improving the world.  See examples here!
