Legislative Update

Epinephrine

The Assembly Health Committee passed A.4094, which would allow an individual to carry, administer and dispose of an epinephrine auto-injector device after receiving a prescription and training. Though there is already a requirement for schools to have epinephrine available for students without prescription, there is no requirement for businesses and other entities. This bill allows them to provide epinephrine to the public. MSNJ supports this bill.

Physician Office Access

The Assembly Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee passed A.807, which requires managed care plans, the SHBP, and SEHBP to provide for reasonable accommodation in accessing providers for persons with physical disabilities. MSNJ is monitoring this bill, which has been passed by committees in previous years, but has always stalled.

Labs in ACOs

The Assembly Health Committee passed A.431, which requires a clinical laboratory that provides services for accountable care organization to establish a clinical laboratory testing advisory board. This bill is an effort of the NJ Society of Pathologist.
