Greetings!

We've had a great start to the season - Club nights in Alexandra Park on Monday nights have only been rained off once, and the Brunel & Thursday leagues have started up again. The big news of course is our Lottery funded grant from Sport England, which we will be spending on a beautiful new terrain, marking a new era in the history of the Club.
As you read this a number of members will be packing for the trip to Aix-en-Provence, to play with not only our friends in the villages but also a contingent from Germany to make it an international tournament.
There are lots more events below, put them in your diary now, and make this year your best petanque year ever!

New Piste at Larkhall SC.
Update
As many of you are now aware we have received Sports England funding to help us build a new piste at Larkhall Sports Club. As a committee we plan to keep you up to date with the progress we are making as well request any feedback from members as we progress with the Project. A number of actions have been taken during the last month.
1) We have managed to generate a significant amount of publicity about, not only the grant but also the club. This included Points West (see club website) and the Bath Chronicle (see club website for further details).
2) We have awarded the initial design contract to "" and we are discussing with a number of other clubs who have recently built pistes to obtain detailed specifications. The current length of the piste will be just over 32 metres and we would like to know your preference for a) the type of surface and b) whether we split the piste to provide 2 types of surface and therefore a little more challenging. As a member, potential member or friend please let Diana Lockwood have your feedback.
3) While we have a significant amount of the funding in placing we are still looking for some further funding. A number of members have already pledged some significant amount of funds however further pledges would help. A form is attached for anyone interested.

Club Melee
The next club melee will be held on Queen Square on May 31st 2014 with registration at 1.45 commencing at 2.00. The entry fee will be £3 with the winner receiving £20. Each player will play 4 games, each with a different partner. As this will be an open competition it is open to anyone and all they need to present themselves at the registration desk. Twinning Competition
For those of you who are unaware the club has a membership with the 4 twinning associations (Aix-en-Provence in France, Alkmaar in Holland, Braunschweig in Germany and Kaposvar in Hungary). The club has visited 3 of these cities during its brief history and for the first time this year will be visiting Kaposvar.
As another first there will be a 4 way Petanque competition between the 4 Associations. Members of the CoBPC will be part of the teams depending on a) who they represent the club with and b) who will bid the highest price for a player. The individual associations recognise that this will be a good opportunity for networking and it seems we have found a commonality between them.
The date will be June 27th at 6.30pm so place it in your diaries, a cup will be presented to the winners and food and drinks will be available afterwards in the Harington Club for £7 per person.
