After a long break the new season is now finally in full swing, with all the usual club nights and leagues having kicked off. We just need some decent weather to be able to extract the full enjoyment potential. We also have some exciting visits planned and I am particularly pleased that for the first time ever we will be hosting a group from Aix-en-Provence. As well as the opportunity to play some French opposition on home terrain, it also means we can start to repay some of the excellent support and hospitality many of us have enjoyed over there. More specific details of the visit will be published in due course

Membership & Club Nights
Club nights have recommenced on Monday evenings at Alexandra Park starting from around 5.30 p.m. for those who can get there early and will continue until dusk or the weather gets too cold or too wet to continue. Everyone is welcome and coaching is also available. There are also openings in the Thursday League for anyone who may be interested in playing in a team. Please give Don Grimes a call.
As final reminder, could any full club members from last year who have not already paid their subscription please forward their cheque for £24 to Cary Bush at 11 Dunsford Place, Bath BA2 6HF or advise him that they will not be renewing their membership.
Alkmaar Tour (October 2012)

Arrangements are now being finalised for the Club tour to Alkmaar in October this year.Some of the party are flying out a day or two early to spend time in Amsterdam, but the official programme in Alkmaar starts on Friday 5th October, when we will meet with members of L'autre Chemin Petanque Club for a meal out. We will meet them again for a friendly melee from 2 pm on the Saturday.Sunday 7th October is the Celeritas Open Doubles competition (all day), and then most of the group are flying back on the 8th.

Aix en Provence
For the first time in 9 years there will be no official club organised trip to Aix En Provence this year - but see below
Trip to Bath
However, for the first time a group of four from Aix en Provence will be visiting Bath arriving on June 22nd and leaving on June 25th. Lesley Hall is currently helping plan the trip for our visitors and anyone who would like to help or be involved the visit please contact her at lesley-hall@hotmail.co.uk
Coral Ball
The Bath/Aix Coral Ball will be held in BRILSI, Queen Square on September 22nd. Cost of ticket tbc, but the organisers are very keen to keep price as low as possible.
Petanque tour to Aix-en-Provence
An Independent Petanque tour to Aix-en-Provence will take place in mid October this year. Details yet to be finalised but potential participants may wish to express an early interest to Chris Garrattt. Places will be limited. This trip is not exclusive to the City of Bath Club.
BRUNEL LEAGUE
The Club representative team got off to a confident start with an emphatic 5-2 victory over local rivals Horton in the opening fixture of this season. This match was in danger of being called off when torrents of rain came pouring down the pistes in Queen Square. So let's hope there's more play like this but less of this type of weather over the coming months. Player of the match: Alice Ellis, winning both rounds comfortably in her debut for the team.
