The Epidemiology and Genomics Research Program (EGRP) in the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) funds research in human populations to understand the causes of cancer and related outcomes.
The Program fosters interdisciplinary collaborations, as well as the development and use of resources and technologies to advance cancer research and translation of this research, which serve as the basis for clinical and public health interventions.

The Cohorts and Consortia Team of the Epidemiology and Genomics Research Program (EGRP) recently launched the Cancer Epidemiology Descriptive Cohort Database (CEDCD), which will provide key information on cancer cohorts. CEDCD's purpose is to increase transparency and credibility within the cancer cohort field, foster collaboration, facilitate data sharing, and increase the quality and scope of cohort-based research. CEDCD is a web-based database that will be accessible to the at-large public via user login. The database will include: - Cohort profiles and contact information;
- Study design and eligibility criteria;
- Enrollment numbers by race, ethnicity, and gender;
- Number of biospecimens, cancer outcomes, and deaths;
- Policies, protocols, and questionnaires;
- Publications and funded research projects; and
- Links to cohort websites and related resources.
How Does CEDCD Work?
Cohort investigators who are interested in having their cohort's information on CEDCD will be asked to provide information about the cohort and to update that information annually. When an investigator submits the information form, data will be extracted from the form and entered into the database. Users who log in to CEDCD will be able to find basic cohort information, search criteria to find cohorts of interest, and use the comparison tool to compare multiple cohorts.
