About EGRPAboutEGRP
The Epidemiology and Genomics Research Program (EGRP) in the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) funds research in human populations to understand the causes of cancer and related outcomes.

The Program fosters interdisciplinary collaborations, as well as the development and use of resources and technologies to advance cancer research and translation of this research, which serve as the basis for clinical and public health interventions.

The 106th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) will begin in a few weeks in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. To help you get the most out of this year's presentations, we've assembled a list of sessions presented by National Cancer Institute (NCI) staff to highlight important resources and topics in cancer epidemiology and genomics. The list below includes the names of EGRP staff that are presenting.

Sunday, April 19
Monday, April 20
Tuesday, April 21
Wednesday, April 22

In addition, EGRP staff will be available to answer questions at a Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) kiosk at the  NCI Exhibition Booth (#601). Below is a schedule of staff members and their specific topic areas (although all staff are available to answer general questions about EGRP and DCCPS).

The Cohorts and Consortia Team of the Epidemiology and Genomics Research Program (EGRP) recently launched the Cancer Epidemiology Descriptive Cohort Database (CEDCD), which will provide key information on cancer cohorts. CEDCD's purpose is to increase transparency and credibility within the cancer cohort field, foster collaboration, facilitate data sharing, and increase the quality and scope of cohort-based research. CEDCD is a web-based database that will be accessible to the at-large public via user login. The database will include:
  • Cohort profiles and contact information;
  • Study design and eligibility criteria;
  • Enrollment numbers by race, ethnicity, and gender;
  • Number of biospecimens, cancer outcomes, and deaths;
  • Policies, protocols, and questionnaires;
  • Publications and funded research projects; and
  • Links to cohort websites and related resources.
How Does CEDCD Work?

Cohort investigators who are interested in having their cohort's information on CEDCD will be asked to provide information about the cohort and to update that information annually. When an investigator submits the information form, data will be extracted from the form and entered into the database. Users who log in to CEDCD will be able to find basic cohort information, search criteria to find cohorts of interest, and use the comparison tool to compare multiple cohorts.

For more information on CEDCD and to become a registered user, visit the CEDCD website. To learn more about EGRP-supported cancer epidemiology cohorts, funding opportunities that support cancer epidemiology cohort infrastructure, and other cohort research resources, visit EGRP's Cancer Epidemiology Cohorts Web page or the NCI Cohort Consortium Web page.
