Telemessage Service Expanded
The same system that allows you 24/7 access to your Sedona Public Library account by phone can now alert you of your available holds or warn you if your items are overdue--by calling you!

Telemessage now places automated phone calls to patrons who do not already receive notifications by email. This convenient service is provided by the Yavapai Library Network, of which we are a part.

Telemessage still allows you to renew your items by calling 928-649-6250, the number printed at the bottom of all check-out receipts.

If you prefer email notifications but haven't yet given us your email address, simply stop in or call us to update your account.
Raw Food CD and Demonstration Benefit Village Library
Raw food You can help raise funds for SPL in the Village--and learn about nutritious dietary choices--by purchasing "Anne's Raw Kitchen Recipes" on CD, for a $10 donation, at the main library or at SPL-V.

Developed by outgoing library Board of Trustees president Anne Uruburu, this CD contains 161 delicious and healthy raw food recipes that Anne selected and adapted from over 200 cookbooks and magazines. Recipes include appetizers, soups, salads, main courses, and desserts.

Anne will be holding a raw food preparation demonstration on Friday, July 26, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Si Birch Community Room at Sedona Library. For a $10 donation, you will receive Anne's raw food CD, a reading list of raw food books, samples from the demonstration, and more. All proceeds benefit SPL in the Village.
July Movies at the Library
Movies This month, the Flicker Shack film series will present four free movies at 6 p.m. in the Si Birch Community Room. The Latino Services film, on July 1, is a heartwarming Argentinian movie that was nominated for an Oscar for best foreign film. The July 8 movie is based on a true story about the experiences of a family during the 2004 tsunami in Southeast Asia. On July 15, we'll screen a true-crime documentary involving a case of assumed identity. Flicker Shack's collaboration with the teen summer reading program continues on July 22, as we present the prequel to "The Wizard of Oz." On the last Monday in July, there will be no movie due to the Sedona Model Railroaders' exhibit.
Board of Trustees Update
Sedona Public Library Board of Trustees announces changes to the Library Board.  The all-volunteer Board of Trustees is responsible for administering the affairs of this non-profit community organization that provides the services of a public library through contracts with local government.

Two Trustees retired at the annual meeting on June 18. The SPL Board is grateful for the volunteer terms of retiring Trustees Annette Star Lustgarten and Sandy Immerso, who have contributed significantly to the future sustainability of the Library in our community.

The following new members were elected at the annual meeting: Gwenn Hanna, Paul Schwartz, David Simmer, and James W. Williams, Jr. Roger Shlonsky is returning after a year's hiatus.  Laura Lawrie was elected to another three-year term.

Carolyn Daugherty and Cliff Hamilton joined the Board during the year to fill vacancies.  Members who will be continuing to serve on the Board this year are President Pat Jansen, Treasurer Abbie Denton Lander, Past President Anne Uruburu, Secretary Kathleen Klitzke, and Members-at-Large Jan Aranoff and Harvey Bershader.
Paws to Read Program Returns to Library
Paws The Delta Certified therapy dogs are back by popular demand. During the month of July, Ty, Raven, Apache, and Mingus will be making visits to the Children's Room with the hope of hearing a good story. Check the Library calendar for Paws to Read dates and times.
Ham It Up at Youth Theatre Workshop
The Library will be hosting the Sedona Youth Theatre Workshop for ages 12 through 18. The program runs July 9-12 and July 16-19, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., with a performance on July 20 at 3 p.m. It's a fun workshop for teens with any range of experience, especially those who are just exploring the stage! Registration is filling fast! Call the Library to register and inquire about "Scholarship for Volunteer" opportunities.
