CCRS aligned lessons and resources

Teachers and tutors can use a new electronic document to identify lesson plans and resources that are aligned with the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS). Adult practitioners can access a wealth of information, resources, and assessments that have been developed by K-12 educators available through the Pennsylvania Department of Education Standards Assigned System. Resources are organized by CCRS standards and levels.

Resources for transitioning students to postsecondary education
Presentation materials from the National College Transition Network's annual conference are now available online. Topics include resources for working with English language learners, career pathways, instructional resources for writing, and transition support. 
Using technology in correctional settings
Adult educators across the nation are currently sharing ideas and resources for using technology in correctional settings. Ideas include ways to use specially-designed tablets and websites that are housed on a computer, rather than the internet. Read the postings and join the discussion
College and Career Readiness Standards
Editable Standards in Action Appendix resources available
The What's on Your Mind? resource website recently received a question about developing an electronic and editable page from the Standards in Action (SIA) Appendix, and that document is now available for downloading. Visit the site to download the editable SIA appendix as well as view other answered questions about Content Areas, CCRS, and SIA unpacking. Viewers can also submit a question for the Content Experts in the field of adult education.  
Professional Development Opportunities
WIOA webinar to focus on collaborations between education and local Workforce Investment Boards 
On Friday, March 20 at 2 pm, a webinar will present promising models of local collaborations between adult basic education programs and Workforce Investment Boards that align and strengthen resources and services to prepare adults for postsecondary education and workforce training. Tim Shenk, Adult Education Program Director for Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13, will join other national adult education and workforce partners on a panel discussion to share successful strategies and partnership ideas. LINCS lesson planning online course
LINCS is accepting registrations for the Teaching Excellence in Adult Literacy: Effective Lesson Planning course which begins on April 7. State and National Adult Education News
U.S. DOE Report outlines seven recommendations to transform adult learning
The U.S. Department of Education recently released a report that features seven recommendations for transforming adult learning in the United States. Making Skills Everyone's Business: A Call to Transform Adult Learning in the United States used feedback from the engagement events held around the country and effective and emerging best practices to outline changes that should be made to increase adults' skill levels. COABE seeks Public Policy Consultant 
The Commission on Adult Basic Education (COABE), a national nonprofit adult basic education organization, seeks a public policy consultant to support its advocacy work. Proposals for public policy consultant will be accepted until March 25 with the work to be awarded by April 9.
