Stream Restoration Work
| Stream restoration work began earlier this week in the Hickory Cluster area of Reston. Approximately 500 feet of stream will be restored.
In October, crews will move to the stream near Forest Edge and Regency Square clusters, known as the Wiehle North stream reach. Residents will start seeing white flagging and orange fencing near Wiehle Avenue from the Hebrew Congregation down to the toe of Lake Anne Dam and then out towards Cedar Ridge Apartments.

Bat Night at The Lake House
| Thursday, Sept. 29 7-8 p.m. The Lake House, 11450 Baron Cameron Ave., parking on Brown's Chapel Road. $5/person RA members, $7/person non-members. All ages (Children must be accompanied by an adult.) Reservations required by Sept. 26. Email naturecenter@reston.org or call 703-476-9689. Enjoy a program at Reston Association's new Lake House. We will scan the sky for our favorite flying mammal, and use a bat monitor to detect bat traffic. Learn the latest from the bat world and enjoy some wildlife at Lake Newport.

Nature Walk at Golf Course
| Monday, Oct. 3 3-5 p.m. South Lakes Park, 11100 South Lakes Drive, between Escalante Court and Olde Crafts Drive. Free. Adults. Reservations required by Sept. 29. Email naturecenter@reston.org or call 703-476-9689. Learn about the natural resources and experiences that the Reston National Golf Course open space provides. Look for wildlife and visit old field and pond habitats. Co-sponsored by Rescue Reston.

Halloween House & Trick-or-Treat Trail
| You're invited to the best family friendly Halloween event this side of Transylvania. Rain or shine. Walker Nature Center, 11450 Glade Drive. Tickets: $10/person.
