Transportation Tax Survey
Fairfax County is considering ways to fund transportation improvements in Reston. One option is to create a service tax district. Reston Association is inviting its members to complete a brief survey about the tax district proposal. Click here to take the anonymous online survey. You will be able to see the most current results of the survey after you answer the two questions.

Tennis instructor, Jim Elder, and Friends of Reston were presented awards at the 2016 Best of Reston awards gala last week. Elder won "Individual Community Leader" and the Friends of Reston was named "Best Civic Community Group." Read more
dogwoodDogwood Class Wins 2nd
 A Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEAM) team at Dogwood Elementary School recently won second place in the Virginia Caring for Our Watershed contest held at George Mason University. With the help of Reston Association's Watershed Manager, Nicki Bellezza, Dogwood students identified a watershed problem (algae blooms) in their locale and came up with a solution. Because the team took second place and was one of the top 10 finalists, students will receive money from Earth Force to help with researching a solution. Bellezza will be helping the students with the field work of collecting and analyzing water samples and providing information for RA residents.

This year's Reston Home & Garden Expo is bigger and better than ever. The expo is great opportunity for homeowners to get advice on interior and exterior home improvements from a variety of experts and exhibitors. Join the Reston Association, RA's Multimodal Transportation Advisory Committee, The Reston Bicycle Club and the Reston YMCA for our Annual Bicycle Safety Rodeo during the YMCA's Healthy Kids Day. Children will complete eight safety stations and earn their bicyclist's license. Children must bring their own bicycles and helmets. The Reston Bike Club will also be doing bicycle & helmet inspections. Contact Ashleigh@reston.org for details. This event is free.

Many naturally occurring plants can make a nutritious and tasty addition to your diet. Sample some "wild" dishes and take home recipes to try on your own. After an indoor presentation that includes the ethics of collecting, hike the trails in search of edible plants. Guest Speaker: Lori Thomas.

kids tri Registration has begun for the 6th Annual Reston Kids Triathlon, co-sponsored by Reston Association and The YMCA-Fairfax County Reston. This is an Individual triathlon (no relays or teams) for ages 6-14 (as of Dec 31, 2016). Click here to register online.

 RA's volunteer program consists of members in our community working in a variety of capacities. Volunteers are RA's strongest line of communication with the community. Each year a diverse group of RA members donates thousands of hours to the association. Through their dedication, we are able to provide a wide range of high-quality programs, services and events that make Reston a great place to Live, Work, Play and Get Involved.  

riverPotomac River Watershed Cleanup

Join thousands of volunteers in a multi-state effort as we do our part in cleaning up the Potomac Watershed. Reston Association is hosting several sites along Snakeden Branch and Colvin Run, two tributaries to the Potomac River.

Stream Monitoring
