RNGC Drops Court Appeal
|
A significant chapter in the battle to rezone the Reston National Golf Course came to an end last Friday after attorneys for the golf course filed a letter with the Supreme Court of Virginia indicating they would not be pursuing an appeal of a Fairfax County Circuit Court decision from November. Register for Bike to Work Day
|
Reston Association and Comstock Partners invite residents to join more than 500 local commuters for a celebration of bicycling as a clean, fun and healthy way to get to work on Friday, May 20.
The Reston Pit Stop will be held on the plaza at the Wiehle-Reston East Metrorail Station. Register by May 13 to receive a free T-shirt and to be entered into a raffle for a free bicycle.

Plant flower seeds that will bloom later in the year, go on a scavenger hunt, and find beautiful wildflowers tucked away in the spring woods.

Nature House 5K Race/Walk

Saturday, April 2 8 a.m. Walker Nature Center, 11450 Glade Drive. Adult Fee: $25 (prior to March 19), $30 regular Children's Fee: $15 (prior to March 19), $20 regular Register online or in person starting at 7 a.m. on race day. All ages are invited to enjoy this rolling and beautiful course on paved paths and natural surface trails. Post-race festivities include an awards ceremony, refreshments and random prize drawings. T-shirts provided to all pre-registered participants and walk-ins as supplies last.

Reston Swim Team Association's Summer Swim League has opened registration for returning swimmers. Please visit www.rsta.org for more information and evaluations.
Registration opens to swimmers/families participating in RSTA's Winter Swim Program on March 15. Registration opens to new families who want to join RSTA on April 12.

Help Remove Invasive Plant

Saturday, March 26 10 a.m.-noon Location: Stones Throw Drive natural area. Oriental bittersweet is one of the most invasive and vigorous weeds in Reston. Please help Habitat Heroes eradicate this aggressive vine and liberate our native plants. Meet at the asphalt path near the intersection of Fieldview Drive and Stones Throw Drive, across the street from 11300 Stones Throw Drive. Look for the RA truck. Click here to volunteer.

Reston Arbor Day

Monday, March 28 (rain or shine) 9:30 a.m.-noon Reston sites: Old Trail Drive natural area, Old Westbury recreational area and Lake Newport soccer natural area. All ages welcome. Children 6-12 must be accompanied by an adult. Click here to register to volunteer now. Reston is a Tree City USA as certified by the National Arbor Day Foundation. Join us as we help plant native trees, shrubs, ferns and wildflowers. Learn about Reston's trees and shrubs, including proper planting and care. A special Arbor Day presentation and flag-raising ceremony will take place at 11:45 a.m. at the Walker Nature Center followed by a free pizza lunch for volunteers.
