The mixed-use project is being developed by The JBG Companies near the Reston International Center off Sunrise Valley Drive. VY will provide additional residential buildings as well as retail and office space. When completed, the approximately 380 new residential units will become part of Reston Association. assessAnnual Assessment Notice
Reston Association Member Services will extend its hours for residents to pay their annual assessment on the following days:
  • Saturday, Feb. 27, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Monday, Feb. 29, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 1, 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m.
Assessments are due March 1. Members can also take advantage of the 20% discount on pool & tennis passes if they pay their assessment online by March 1 (either the full amount or the first installment) and purchase their passes online by April 15. Click here for more details.

Registration for the Summer Swim Team begins next week and returning families have two weeks to reserve their space on their selected team. New swimmer evaluations are required for all new participants under age 11. Go to the Reston Swim Team Association website for more information.

Dr. Seuss has been teaching valuable lessons for generations such as "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose." Steer your shoes to the nature center for a fun afternoon of crafts, food and birthday party fun in celebration of Dr. Seuss' 112th birthday.

March is the windy month. Take a walk and feel the wind as it dances around you. Blow around like a gale and float like a breeze. Make a windsock so you can always tell which way the wind is blowing.

Organic gardening uses landscape design and the environment to improve and maximize the health and the development of plants and soil without the use of commercial pesticides and fertilizers.  RA's volunteer program consists of members in our community working in a variety of capacities. Volunteers are RA's strongest line of communication with the community. Each year a diverse group of RA members donates thousands of hours to the association. Through their dedication, we are able to provide a wide range of high-quality programs, services and events that make Reston a great place to Live, Work, Play and Get Involved.  

streamsHelp Monitor Streams
Saturday, March 5

Reston Association welcomes new volunteers to assist with stream monitoring at several locations throughout Reston. Get involved with a small team during all seasons to collect data and identify insects with the goal of assessing the health of Reston's streams.
 
If you are interested in assisting with stream monitoring for more than one or two sessions, training and practice opportunities are offered by joining seasoned volunteers and RA staff. You can earn a stream monitoring certificate after successfully demonstrating your ability to identify macro-invertebrates. Each monitoring session consists of 2-3 hours. Any interest and commitment level is appreciated.

Reston Association is hiring a seasonal part-time Volunteer Assistant (27 hours a week) from March-November. Must be able to work some nights and weekends. The Volunteer Assistant provides support and assistance to the Volunteer Supervisor.
