Three new summer camps have been added for this year. The new camps are: Bricks 4 Kidz w/Legos, Wilderness Camp and Soccer Camp. Fresh T-shirt designs and a wide range of other program enhancements are in the works, ensuring that RA camps remain fun and accessible.

Member registration for RA summer camps begins Jan. 25 at 8:30 a.m. Non-member registration opens on Feb. 1. Online registration for camps is available through the RA Marketplace. Email camp@reston.org for more information.

trailW&OD Trail Maintenance
Dominion Virginia Power will be pruning and removing trees along 8-10 miles of the W&OD Trail, from the Reston area east, for the next several weeks. The Northern Virginia Regional Parks Authority said the work is part of routine transmission line right-of-way maintenance. Read more on Patch.com.

Introduce your child to the joys of nature through this three-month series of educational programs. Each program will include fun and educational activities such as short, exploratory hikes, simple nature crafts, and entertaining stories based on the uniqueness of the winter season. Follow a team of world-class scientists as they explore the West Antarctic Peninsula. See the stunning landscapes and seascapes of Earth's southern polar region. While navigating through 60-foot waves and dangerous icebergs, the film tracks the team as they make land on Charcot Island to study the Adelie Penguin, considered one of the greatest indicator species of climate change. Join a marine biologist from Under the Sea to meet and touch live creatures native to the Chesapeake Bay such as a horseshoe crab, a flounder and an American eel. Learn about bay ecology and how the way we treat water at home affects the water quality and wildlife found in the bay.

Adult Fee: $25 (prior to March 19), $30 regular
Children's Fee: $15 (prior to March 19), $20 regular. Register online or in person starting at 7 a.m. on race day.
 
Registration is now open for the 13th Annual Nature House 5K Race/Walk. All ages are invited to enjoy this rolling and beautiful course on paved paths and natural surface trails. Post-race festivities include an awards ceremony, refreshments and random prize drawings. T-shirts provided to all pre-registered participants and walk-ins as supplies last.
