openspaceCourt Rules in Favor of RA
Last Friday, Fairfax County Circuit Court vacated and voided the April 15 county Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) decision concerning the Reston National Golf Course. The circuit court ruling is considered a defeat for the owner of the golf course and is significant because any redevelopment of the course must now be preceded by the filing of specific plans with the county. Reston Association and others are trying to preserve open space by preventing development of the course. Read more.

The Reston Association Board of Directors will have three available seats in 2016. They include:
  • At-Large Director
  • North Point District Director
  • Lake Anne/Tall Oaks District Director
For more information or instructions on how to become a candidate, go to the Board Elections page on the RA website. Candidacy forms must be filed by 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016.

RA will hold an Election Information Session at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016 for individuals considering candidacy. In addition to receiving key information about the 2016 election, potential candidates will learn about the responsibilities of the nine-member RA board.
holidayRegister for Holiday Break Camp
Registration is now open for Reston Association's Holiday Break Camp. This school-break camp is for children ages 6-11. Sessions run Dec. 22-23 and Dec. 28-30. dredgeDredging Begins at Lake Anne

Reston Association began dredging operations at Lake Anne this month. The contractor, Lake Services, expects the dredging to be completed by early December. RA is dredging the coves to clear accumulated sediment and leaf debris to improve boat and shoreline access as well as provide additional water storage areas and deeper areas for fish. inspectInspections of Open Space
Reston Association staff will begin inspections of the association's open space today, weather permitting. Signs have been posted alerting residents to the planned inspections. The team will look for:
  • Dumping of leaves and yard debris in the common area
  • Hazard trees
  • Invasive plant species
  • Litter
  • Encroachments and clearing of the open space
  • Other environmental problems

Get started on your holiday decorating by making festive wreaths for your home. Listen to seasonal music and enjoy mulled cider and cookies. All supplies provided. When making reservations, please include the number of people in your party and how many wreaths you would like to make.

Each year a diverse group of RA members donates thousands of hours to the association. Covenants Committee Volunteers
Reston Association seeks a dedicated volunteer to serve as an At-Large member on the Covenants Committee. The Covenants Committee, appointed by the Reston Association Board of Directors, is responsible for administering the Use and Maintenance Covenants set forth in the Reston Deed of Dedication. The minimum time commitment is a 1 to 3-hour meeting once per month plus property inspections prior to meetings dates.

If you are interested in applying, please complete a Committee Volunteer Application Form and submit it to stadele@reston.org no later than Friday, Nov. 27, 2015.
IvyHelp Remove English Ivy
Saturday, Nov. 21
10 a.m.-noon

Volunteers will meet at the Hunters Woods Pool parking lot and walk to the natural area to remove English ivy that is choking native trees and ground covers. Volunteers will dig roots and pull the vines until the English ivy is removed. We will also be planting native trees, shrubs and ground covers to help restore the site.
