Proposal: Add Properties to RA
|
As directed by the Reston Association Board of Directors, CEO, Cate Fulkerson provided an overview of a proposed new model for adding properties to the association. The presentation came during a public hearing about the BLVD Residential at Reston Station last week. A second public hearing is set for June 25.
The new model for adding properties to RA concerns the area known as the Dulles Corridor. Currently, new or existing properties along the corridor do not fall within RA's jurisdiction (RA covenanted land) therefore assessments from those residences are not collected by RA. Those properties also do not fall under RA's design guidelines.
If the revised model is adopted by the board, developers would have the opportunity to join RA. The association would receive an initiation fee and/or proffers from developers in exchange for RA providing certain services such as overseeing the future administration and design review process of the properties. Click here to read more about the proposal.

Board Votes on Tall Oaks Motion
|
The Reston Association Board of Directors voted to "include a residential component" in the Tall Oaks Village Center redevelopment plan. The board, which unanimously approved a new motion at last Thursday night's meeting, stated that "the center should include neighborhood-serving retail and services and a public open space oriented to the Tall Oaks Assisted Living Facility."
Tall Oaks is one of five village centers in Reston. The shopping center at Tall Oaks is being considered for a redevelopment project that would include a mix of residential and commercial uses. The developer, Jefferson Apartment Group, purchased the Tall Oaks Center in December 2014. Click here to read more.
