tetraTetra Referendum Passes
DOWNLOAD RESULTS

After a month-long referendum that ended last Friday, and with almost 33% of eligible Reston Association voters casting ballots, the RA Board of Directors is now authorized to borrow up to $2.65 million to purchase the 3.47-acre Tetra property (formerly the Reston Visitors Center), located at 11450 Baron Cameron Ave.

Nearly 53% of voters cast ballots in support of Reston Association purchasing the property, which the RA board believes will protect against over-development, increase and enhance green space by removing the commercial office/restaurant development potential on the site, and will expand community and recreational use opportunities.

golfBoard Passes RNGC Motion

The Reston Association Board of Directors unanimously voted on Monday to direct Odin, Feldman & Pittleman, PC, on behalf of RA, to coordinate with Fairfax County, its Zoning Administrator and other homeowners adjacent to the golf course, to file an appeal to the Circuit Court regarding the April 15, 2015 decision of the Fairfax County Board of Zoning Appeals regarding Case # A2012-HM-020 RN Golf Management, LLC. Board director, Jeff Thomas, was absent and did not vote.

The decision reflects RA's position that any redevelopment of PRC zoned land within Reston, including the Reston National Golf Course, must be reviewed and compared to the existing zoning development plans, and any proffers or conditions attached to the development plans.

garlicGarlic Mustard Everywhere

Saturday, May 30

10 a.m.-noon

Wainwright Natural Area.

Volunteers will battle garlic mustard, one of the many invasive plants taking over the Wainwright natural area. Reston needs as many hands as possible to pull garlic mustard from the forest floor to help create space for native plants to grow. Meet at Wainwright Drive near the recreational field. Look for the RA truck. There is poison ivy at this site.
