Developers for the Tall Oaks Village Center held two community meetings this month, including one earlier this week, outlining proposals to renovate the shopping center. Please go to the Reston Association website for details about the project and a look at the initial mixed-use site plan.
ponyOptions for Pony Barn Pavilion
Visit the Pony Barn page on the RA website to download three renderings of initial design proposals that are being considered by the working group.
gardenGarden Club Camp Donation
The Reston Garden Club presented a check for $1,000 to Katie Shaw, Executive Director of the Friends of Reston, to be used for the Reston Association Camps Scholarship Program.

Each year donations from organizations, businesses and individuals make it possible for economically disadvantaged children of Reston to attend RA summer camps. The Reston Garden Club's donation will make it possible for at least two children to attend camp, receive extended day care, and provide them transportation for pick-up and drop-off to camp.

The festival will feature hands-on activities and entertainment, including acoustic music, live animals, craft making for kids, displays and information from environmental groups as well as fishing and canoe/kayak rentals on Lake Audubon. Free. No registration required.
If you need assistance determining what group swim lesson level to take, please join us for a fun evaluation of skills. Wait-time is typically less than 15 minutes and participants will be seen in the order they arrive.

Sunset at Sunrise Valley Wetlands

Sunrise Valley Wetlands, 12700 Sunrise Valley Drive. Park on the left (west) side of the office building.

Sunrise Valley Wetlands is an aquatic jewel on the border of Reston and Herndon. Twilight is a time of transition as diurnal animals shelter for the evening, while nocturnal animals begin their nighttime activities. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the wetlands as we try to catch glimpses of nature's "shift-change." Co-sponsored by Reston Historic Trust.

In honor of Mother's Day, bring your mom to a delightful morning at the nature center. Sip tea or juice and sample a variety of pastries and fruits. Make a bouquet of paper flowers for mom to display on her special day. Take a stroll through the gardens to look for spring-blooming wildflowers.

 RA's volunteer program consists of members in our community working in a variety of capacities. Volunteers are RA's strongest line of communication with the community. Each year a diverse group of RA members donates thousands of hours to the association. Through their dedication, we are able to provide a wide range of high-quality programs, services and events that make Reston a great place to Live, Work, Play and Get Involved.

Old Trail Drive

Help restore the Old Trail Drive natural area and remove the garlic mustard that has invaded the Snakeden Stream watershed. Spring is the best time of the year to identify garlic mustard and pull it out of the ground before it goes to seed. Please meet at the Glade Pool parking lot. There is poison ivy at this site.
