Reston's paths are one of the community's greatest joys. Set as your goal to explore all 55 miles of paved and natural surface pathways winding throughout Reston's open spaces. Not only do these paths provide a great place to exercise and get some fresh air, they also connect neighborhoods, recreation areas and shopping centers.

poolRA Recognized for Pool Project

The Virginia Recreation and Park Society recently named Reston Association the winner of the Best New Renovation/Addition category for renovation work at Dogwood Pool.

The Dogwood Pool renovation was completed during the 2011 and 2012 season. A grand re-opening celebration was held on May 11, 2013. The renovated facility features an abstract-shaped 25-meter main pool with zero-depth entry and in-water seating. The remodeled bathhouse is Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant and the pool offers three accessible points.

The adjacent picnic pavilion is utilized for birthdays and community events and the exterior mosaic fountain demonstrates the community's appreciation of public art.

The award was announced at the Dec. 6-9 VRPS conference in Hot Springs, Va., and received by the RA Board of Directors at its regular meeting on Thursday, Dec. 18. RA also recognized the NVBlu Inc. building company, Miller Architects and the Initiative for Public Art - Reston for their help in restoring Dogwood Pool.
