Reston Station The new Silver Line will provide transportation from Dulles International Airport to downtown Washington. The first phase of the Silver Line opened on July 26, 2014. Click here for more information on the Silver Line and the Wiehle-Reston East station.

North Point Seat Filled
|
The Reston Association Board of Directors voted last week to appoint long-time Reston resident, Dannielle LaRosa, to fill the vacant North Point board seat for the remainder of the current term.
The seat was held by Tim Cohn until he resigned in June from the board for personal reasons. The term expires in April 2015.
LaRosa has a fiscal background with a history of extensive community involvement. Her application can be found on the board packet page (under the July 31, 2014 item) on the RA website.

Reston Kids' Triathlon Results

The Fourth Annual Reston Kids' Triathlon was held last weekend. See photo gallery 1 and photo gallery 2 on the Reston Association Facebook page or go here for race results. RA and the Y Fairfax County Reston are annual co-sponsors of the event. All net proceeds benefit youth scholarship programming.

Knee Deep in a Creek
| Thursday, Aug. 14 1:30-2:30 p.m. WNC Campfire Ring, on Soapstone Drive between Glade Drive and Lawyers Road. $7/child RA members, $9/child non-members. Ages 3-5 (Children must be accompanied by an adult.) Reservations required by Aug. 11. Email naturecenter@reston.org or call 703-476-9689. Wade in the cool waters of The Glade stream looking for frogs, tadpoles, minnows and other aquatic creatures. Be ready for a fun hike and a wet time. Wear your wading shoes and clothes that can get dirty. We will provide nets and buckets.

Spiders, Spiders Everywhere

Reservations required by Aug. 14. Email naturecenter@reston.org or call 703-476-9689. Spiders are predators that feed on many different types of animals. Find out what spiders will eat fish, how many eyes they have, where their webs come from, and which spiders you shouldn't touch. Go on a short hike to learn how many different spiders you can find right here in Reston.

Trip to Shear Madness

Join Reston Association for a chartered-bus trip to the Kennedy Center to see Shear Madness, the comedy whodunit that lets the audience solve the crime. The show combines up-to-the-minute improvisational humor and a mixture of audience sleuthing to deliver a unique performance each night.
