METRORAIL SILVER LINE

Reston Station The new Metrorail Silver line will provide transportation from Dulles International Airport to downtown Washington. The first phase of the Silver Line is expected to open on July 26, 2014.

Tennis Courts Resurfaced
| The Upper Lakes tennis courts have been repaired and repainted and are now open to members and guests. The surface on all four courts was treated with the ARMOR Crack Repair System. The courts are located near Upper Lakes Drive and Sunrise Valley Drive. Click here for more information on Reston Association's tennis facilities.

Neighborhood Watch Meeting
| Tuesday, July 29 6:30 p.m. Reston Association, 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive.
Fairfax County Crime Prevention officers will hold an informational meeting for residents about starting or rejuvenating a Neighborhood Watch.
Please RSVP to the Reston Crime Prevention Office by July 28 with your community name and how many from the community will be attending. You can RSVP by email, katy.defoe@fairfaxcounty.gov or by phone, 703-478-0799.

Recreation Area Meeting
| Wednesday, July 30 6 p.m. Pony Barn Pavilion.
Reston Association will be holding the first in a series of community meetings to discuss the history of the Pony Barn/Steeplechase Recreation Area and to introduce ideas for renovating and re-purposing the site, including the possibility of the Initiative for Public Art Reston's (IPAR) Memorial Garden of Reflection proposal. The area is located at the corner of Steeplechase Drive and Triplecrown Road.
At the meeting, there will be an opportunity for residents and members to ask questions and serve on a volunteer task force to work with RA staff and IPAR on developing ideas. Please RSVP to member_services@reston.org.

Insects of the Night
| Friday, Aug. 1 8:30-9:30 p.m. Walker Nature Center, 11450 Glade Drive. $5/person RA members, $7/person non-members. All ages (Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.) Reservations required by July 29. Email naturecenter@reston.org or call 703-476-9689. Many insects are active at night so that it is harder for predators to find them. Discover our nocturnal insects by use of a light trap and white sheet setup. Learn how these insects are ecologically important, which can improve your backyard, and how you can attract them.
