Metro Announces Opening Date |
Metro officials announced in a news release this week that the Silver Line will open for service on Saturday, July 26.
Phase 1 of the Silver Line will run from Reston to Tysons Corner and into Washington and suburban Maryland. Phase 2, due to be completed in 2018, will have additional stations in Reston, Herndon, Dulles Airport and Loudoun County.
"The five new Silver Line stations will open to customers at noon, and the first Silver Line train will depart Wiehle-Reston East, bound for Largo Town Center, at that time," said Metro General Manager and CEO Richard Sarles.
The Metro news release also included the following:
Metro plans to conduct a week of "simulated service," starting Sunday, July 20. During the service simulation, Silver Line trains will run on the system without carrying passengers to or from the five new stations. However, the "simulation" trains will carry passengers between East Falls Church and Largo Town Center.
Riders can check fares and travel times, get station information and learn more about the project by visiting silverlinemetro.com.

Pull English Ivy
| Saturday, June 28 10 a.m.-Noon 2501 Reston Parkway
Help restore Reston's natural areas by pulling English ivy. English ivy can choke and kill the beautiful trees that give our yards and neighborhoods shade and character. The plant can strangle trees, accelerate rot, attract mosquitoes and cause mature trees to fall down during storms.
We will meet at the Hunters Woods pool parking lot and walk down the trail to the site.
|
Save the Date
Volunteer party is Aug. 1. RSVP by July 28.
Come spend an evening with your fellow volunteers and let RA staff serve you. Enjoy food, music, door prizes and giveaways at Lake Newport Pool. Bring your family and enjoy a relaxing evening.
