METRORAIL SILVER LINE

Reston Station
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is constructing a 23-mile extension of the Metrorail system, which will be operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority from East Falls Church to Washington Dulles International Airport. The extension will serve the Reston-Herndon area, the state's second largest employment concentration. It will provide a one-seat ride from Dulles International Airport to downtown Washington. RA Staffer Wins County Award
|
Reston Association's Special Events Coordinator, Ashleigh Soloff, was recognized by Volunteer Fairfax for her dedication and service to the Fairfax County community. Soloff was chosen by a panel of judges as the awardee in the Benchmark 1,000 category, signifying over 1,000 volunteer hours to the community in 2013.
Soloff and other awardees were recognized at the Fairfax County Volunteer Service Awards Ceremony on Friday, April 25. She was nominated for her work with the Fairfax County Police Department Auxiliary Police Program. She was also awarded Auxiliary Officer of the Year for Patrol by the Fairfax County Police Department. Click here to read more.

If you need assistance determining what group swim lesson level to take, please join us for a fun evaluation of skills. Wait-time is typically less than 15 minutes and participants will be seen in the order they arrive.

Film Screening: Trash Dance

A choreographer finds beauty and grace in garbage trucks, and rallies reluctant Austin sanitation workers to perform a most unlikely and stunning spectacle. On an abandoned airport runway, two dozen sanitation workers-and their trucks-inspire an audience of thousands. Followed by Q&A with choreographer Allison Orr.

Bike to Work ... Reston Pit Stop

Comstock Partners and Reston Association invite you to join more than 400 local commuters for a celebration of bicycling as a clean, fun, and healthy way to get to work. Register and meet at the new Metro station to receive a free T-shirt, refreshments, and be entered into a raffle for a free bicycle. This is a new location above Fairfax County's first secure bike parking facility, just blocks from the W&OD Trail. Be sure to register online at http://www.biketoworkmetrodc.org.

Join the Covenants Committee

Reston Association is seeking two volunteers to serve on the Covenants Committee. One member is needed to fill the Lake Anne/Tall Oaks District seat and the other member is needed to fill the South Lakes District.
The Covenants Committee is responsible for administering the Use and Maintenance Covenants set forth in the Reston Deed of Dedication. Click here for more information.

Fine Arts Festival
| Join us at the Greater Reston Arts Center's Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18 at Reston Town Center.
This art event takes place over an entire weekend serves the Washington Metropolitan community by showcasing local and national artists. The festival attracts art enthusiasts of all ages and provides a quality first-hand experience with art, artist and art education programs.
There are many areas where you can volunteer. Our web-based form allows you to learn about activity options, sign up with family or friends and choose your own shift(s).
Schedule- Saturday, May 17: 9 a.m.- noon; noon-3 p.m.; 3-6 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
