One of the first presidents of the Reston Association Board of Directors died on Jan. 6 from injuries sustained in a Dec. 26 car accident. Frederick Naef, 76, of Reston, led the association from April to September 1971. He was the second person to lead the organization after the merger of the First and Second Reston Homeowners' Associations.Naef was eastbound on Lee Highway near Old Lee Highway at about 9:30 a.m. when another driver heading in the opposite direction lost control of his vehicle and collided with Naef's vehicle.A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reston at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26.In lieu of flowers, and as an expression of Naef's lifelong pursuit of learning, the family suggests a donation to an educational institution of the donor's choice.
