The office at the LaGrange County EDC was very active this summer visiting many of our manufacturing companies. A sample of these companies include Open Ranger RV, Tri-State Hardwoods, Interior Hardwoods, Lennard Ag Company, Everlast Roofing, Inc., Lund/Deflecta Shield, I.C.T., Mudd-Ox, Starcraft RV, Trinity Pallet, Lippert Components, Honeyville Metal, Inc., and Dometic Corporation.

Our work this year has resulted in seven project wins. A "win" for the LCEDC means that a company expanded its location in LaGrange County, allowing more job creations, more investment dollars in businesses, and directly received a service from the LCEDC. These wins created 95 new jobs, adding to $23.21 million in investment for LaGrange County. To review some more information about this topic, go to LaGrangeCountyEDC.com

With the help of our LaGrange County Investment Fund, there have been many direct benefits for our county, which include: 12 total projects with six existing companies, two new companies, and four capacity building projects, 627 new jobs created, and 8808 jobs retained.

We are thankful for the opportunities to reconnect with our existing businesses, as well as connect with new ones. During this fall season we are looking forward to upcoming visits and new investments that will be made in LaGrange County!

Newsworthy Story

As of June 2013, our very own Keith Gillenwater has been awarded the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) upon completion of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) requirements.

"I am excited to join the ranks of some very talented and successful economic development professionals across the country," said Gillenwater. "Achieving this certification inspires me, even more, to work hard to improve our LaGrange County community."

"Keith's certification is of great benefit to him and to the organization," said Mark Leu, Chairman of the LCEDC Board of Directors. "It demonstrates his breadth of knowledge and expertise, in addition to elevating the visibility of our organization within the economic development profession."

We are extremely proud of Keith in light of his new accomplishment, and we look forward to his successes in the community in the future.

President's Perspective

We have had a busy and successful summer here at the LaGrange County EDC. As the leaves change for the fall season, so does our business. We have recently hired two new interns to assists us in all of our economic development needs: Brandi Jo Whitaker and Jessica Brower. Brandi Jo is a junior at IPFW, currently studying Pre-Law. She will be assisting us with our newsletters, our design needs, our social media interactions, and various tasks throughout our office. Jessica is a junior at Lakeland High School currently working toward her high school diploma. She will also be assisting our office in social media, design, and various tasks. We look forward to working with them in the upcoming months as we enter the fall season of economic development.

We have also been hard at work marketing LaGrange County and our businesses. We are on the verge of a couple of more project wins, making the year 2013 the best in our short history. Our marketing efforts have resulted in more hits to our websites, social media and newsletters, as well as earned media placement in national publications, such as Manufacturing.net, and have upcoming articles in Expansion Solutions Magazine and Assembly Magazine. In addition, we have also had many placements in local and regional media publications.

It's been a great summer, and we look forward to the rest of 2013 and on into 2014!
