This Week at Grace

Commissioning Global Mission Fellows

Dear Grace,

Our partnership with Global Ministries is beginning to bear fruit. After years of praying, planning, drafting legal documents and dodging construction, Global Ministries and Grace are partnering and living into ministry together that transforms our communities and the world.

If you were in worship on July 17th, you got to meet the class of Global Mission Fellows, young adults from all over the world who are dedicating two years to mission placements all over the world. It was a joy to worship together, offer a blessing, and hear their stories. They are finishing their training this week and next week will be commissioned in the Grace sanctuary.

You are invited! See the details below. I hope you will be able to be here for this powerful service. We are also in need of greeters, as they expect over 150 people for worship. If you are able to greet, you would need to arrive at 10am and provide hospitality in the sanctuary and cafe area.

Please e-mail me if you are available: pastor@graceonponce.org

If you are just attending the service, please be sure to RSVP using GBGM's link.

I'm looking forward to seeing some of you for our interfaith dinner tonight, for worship on Sunday morning, and hopefully for the commissioning on Wednesday the 3rd.

Think about who you can invite!

Grace and peace,

Kate

Event Spotlight

GRACE READS
Thursday, August 4th, 7pm, Starbucks on Ponce (Whole Foods Plaza)

Read and discuss thought-provoking books as we journey in faith together - every 1st Thursday at 7pm.

All are welcome; please invite others to join you at 7pm on Thursday, Aug. 4th at Starbucks in the Whole Foods Plaza; 650 Ponce de Leon Ave. at Glen Iris.

Our next book: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life by Barbara Kingsolver.

Author Barbara Kingsolver and her family abandoned the industrial-food pipeline to live a rural life - vowing that for one year, they'd only buy food raised in their own neighborhood, grow it themselves, or learn to live without it. Part memoir, part journalistic investigation, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle is an enthralling narrative that will open your eyes in a hundred new ways to an old truth: You are what you eat.
