Celebrate almost seven miles of trail in Pioneer Park while hunting for clues. Special "letterboxes" are hidden throughout the park, and it's your job to find them. Participants follow clues through the forest, and when they find a hidden rubber stamp, make a print of it in their Clue Book.
Letterboxing is a fun and challenging way to explore; follow these steps to get started:
- Come to National Trails Day on June 1 in Pioneer Park, across from the South-end Starbucks.
- Pick up a clue book from: The Community & Event Center, Luther Burbank Park Office, The Boys and Girls Club, or South-end Starbucks.
- Buy or carve your own stamp.
- Get outside and play!
Completed clue books can be turned in at any issuing location (except Starbucks) by September 30th for recognition at a special event (location, date and time to be announced). Parks and Recreation Staff will be at Pioneer Park from 10:00 to Noon on June 1 helping make stamps and getting everyone started on the trail. Activity is entirely free; call (206) 275-7609 for more information.

$75 Rebate for Water-Saving Toilets Starts June 1st
Toilets are a household's biggest water user: old models can use three to five gallons of water per flush, costing you money on your utility bill.
Consider replacing it with help from the City of Mercer Island and the Saving Water Partnership, a group focused on conserving water across King County. For a limited time, customers who replace their old, water-guzzling toilet with a new WaterSense-labeled model are eligible for a $30 rebate. Or beginning June 1st, choose one of the newer 1.06 gallon per flush Premium WaterSense models and get a $75 rebate! Most households can reduce their water bills by $50-200/year.
