This winter will not yield to spring, it seems,
and yet beneath the snow
the earth with life and promise teems,
the bulbs and rootlets start to grow.
The lilac bud awakens
to feel the sunshine's kiss,
rejecting winter's harshness
to welcome springtime's bliss.
Remember, then, that love has seasons, too:
its winter can be hard to bear,
its spring seem far away.
But fear no freezing if your love be true,
for when you trust, and truly care,
your love will stay.
