The yellow rose symbolizes joy and friendship.
Dream as if you'll live forever.
Live as if you'll die today.

The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream.
The oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg,
and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs.
Dreams are the seedlings of realities.

~ James Allen
Greetings!, Rodelinde

Some people's dreams are lofty, noble, heroic, like that of the man whose memory we honor today. During a life cut brutally short when he was only 40, Martin Luther King Jr. achieved great things because he dreamt great things, and because he inspired others to dream. Throughout history, countless men and women have been the instruments of monumental change because they dared to fight for a cause that first took root in their hearts and minds.
I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized,
than lord among those without dreams and desires.

~ Khalil Gibran
Not all of us are heroes, however, and not all dreams must be grand. If our dreams are modest, we need not feel like lesser mortals. Better, much better, a private little dream than no dream at all. Suppose the things you wanted most were peace and joy in your own life? On the face of it, that might seem selfish, even trivial. But by sweet paradox, the way to achieve these goals is through helping those close to you achieve them too.
It is not true that people stop pursuing dreams because they grow old,
they grow old because they stop pursuing dreams.

~ Gabriel Maria Marquez
Your aspirations are the template for reality. Like the painter who in mind's eye sees the image before ever putting brush to canvas, you can create something wondrous in your life by imagining it first.
Remember Bloody Mary's counsel in South Pacific:

You gotta have a dream, if you don't have a dream,
How you gonna have a dream come true?
Every day, let every step you take be a step in the direction of your fondest dream.
