What is Coaching?

Using solution focused coaching methods, the coach can assist people to free themselves from internal mind tangles. Many individuals are trapped by small fears or confusions and held hostage by them. People with high aspirations move past these 'gremlins' through simply partnering with a coach. Their attention can then become relaxed around their ultimate direction towards excellence.

What do you wish to achieve? Take advantage of coaching and move toward your goals. Be the change.

What Some of Our Clients Have to Say About Dynamite Coaching:

"After taking Mark's communication course I knew that having Mark as my coach was what would serve my business and myself best. It has been 5 months and as I look back at where I began, to my current state I couldn't be happier that I made the decision. At first I wanted him to tell me all the answers to my conflicts; what I should do, how he does it, etc. But when he told me that he didn't do that I was taken aback, as I believed he was supposed to."

"Instead within our coaching sessions we would go over the conflicts at hand and I was 'forced' to figure it out, with of course his excellent coaching skills. Mark has not only allowed me to not feel so helpless when it came to decisions or conflict within my business, but has also give me the tools to fix it, and to take it and make it into something that serves me."

"I would recommend coaching with Mark to anyone, as his coaching has helped me not only with making my business work more efficiently, but with making things work efficiently within my personal life as well. My coaching session is one of the few times I can sit and really think about what I want, and what I need and then make an action plan on how to make it real. It has helped me focus my attention on what I really want and with that, and a little coaching magic, I have been more successful with my business than I ever imagined."

"Thank you Mark for our wonderful conversations that make me redirect my attention to the bigger picture."

I Double Dare You!
Hard to believe 5 years has gone by since I first entertained the idea of changing careers from being a Physical Therapist (18yrs in total) to becoming a Professional Coach.

At the time I remember wrestling with so many questions, some of them being:
  • Was now the right time to make the move?
  • And if not now when would be the right time, if ever?
  • Could I afford financially to make the change?
  • Would I be any good at this new career and would people hire me?
  • What would others say about me if I did go through with this?
  • And was I crazy to even consider the idea? (some did think I was crazy, and even told me)
So, as I often do when faced with making a major decision, I sought out the counsel of my best friend and wife, Sandy. Sandy and I have been married for 15 years and I am very grateful and blessed to have her in my life. She's an incredibly talented and beautiful human being who seems to have a natural built-in ability when it comes to seeing both my strengths and weaknesses (or blind spots), and I value and trust her input very much in all matters big and small.  Sandy I love you with all my heart and am grateful for every moment I am given to spend with you.

So 5 years ago, with Sandy at my side, I began to voice out loud this dream I had about changing careers, and as I did I began to notice 4 main fears surfacing within me.

Now these fears are not unique to just me, but in fact 1 or more of them can show up in any one of us during those times when we decide to explore the idea of making change regardless of whether that change is big or small, and those 4 Fears are:
  1. The Fear of Dreaming
  2. The Fear of Failure
  3. The Fear of Upsetting People
  4. The Fear of Success
For me, as I began to consider making this change, I faced all 4.

First it was The Fear of Dreaming; Could I actually do this, could I make the change, become a professional coach and be successful at it? And as I began to look at those who were doing what I wanted to do I really got scared. I began holding negative internal conversations with myself, measuring my abilities against theirs and deciding I didn't measure up! It was here at this "Point of Inspiration" I contemplated stopping before ever getting started. But I didn't stop. Instead, I grew my Vision bigger.

With my dream clearly defined I set out to face my second fear, The Fear of Failure. I quickly realized it's one thing to have a dream; it's an entirely different matter to do something about it! I'd stuck my neck, and my dream, out for all to see by declaring to myself and others what I wanted, and now it was time to actually do something about it. I'd have to take action! Many of us dream in quiet comfort, but when it comes to putting rubber to road we come to a screeching halt. We might start recalling those times in the past when we failed at something, and were embarrassed, and it plays on us. We allow these Past events to define our Future outcomes, and we play small. It is here where we need to keep a strong focus on our Vision and begin matching it with those First Steps that get us started. It's here where "Inspiration meets Implementation" and even if they're only small steps that we take, they all count. I was moving now and I was taking action.

Okay, so far I've got a dream, I know what it means to me, and I'm aligning it with a realistic action plan. I'm taking steps and learning from my results. Some of my actions create the outcomes I want, others provide me with information that guides me on where I go and what I do next, so now even my mistakes (failures) are being viewed as valuable.

And then along comes the Fear of Upsetting People. Believe it or not those around us may not want us to change. If we do, we may no longer be like them and so they may give us feedback with the encoded message "stay the same." Stay like us and we'll continue to accept you, decide to change, and we may not. Wow! This fear is one that can really paralyze people.  Faced with a choice and the risk of loss we may freeze and do nothing, but it's also here where we can flip our thinking and turn this moment into a very powerful motivational opportunity and a win/win.

Imagine, so strongly knowing the reasons why you are chasing your dream. With your Values clear you are compelled to continue regardless of what feedback you receive. Your Vision is now becoming a reality and all the hard work you've put in has started to bear fruit!

Well guess what, while you were chasing your dream you were being watched, and what if those who watched you were inspired by your tenacity to fight for something you felt was worth fighting for, and because of your willingness to face your fears, you inspired them to chase their dreams too!! OH BABY, that's what I'm talking about!

All that's left then is The Fear of Success. Arriving here we may have mixed feelings of "Am I worth it?" Am I really worthy of having the success I first envisioned in my dream? But when we reach this point it's important to reflect back on all we have accomplished; the fact that we dared to dream in the first place, that we dared to declare the dream aloud, and to not only dream it but to act on it, to not only act on it but to allow ourselves the freedom to make mistakes and fail along the way for something we knew was worth fighting for. (Think of how butterflies come to be; there's a little elbow grease involved there too, if butterflies had elbows I mean)

And it is here where we get to choose how best to celebrate, acknowledge, recognize and honour our achievements and accomplishments. We are no longer just "doing life," by checking off our Daily To-Do Boxes, but we're now "living life" and being present for our successes. Life is richer here and because of what we've learned along the way it tends to spill out into all areas of our life.

5 years ago I took a chance and dared to dream. Now I coach professionals from all walks of life who want to chase their dreams, and I couldn't think of a more rewarding career in the world.

"I attended a 6.5 hour course about communication. The course was highly recommended so I thought it could be a useful experience. I was curious as to exactly how it might be of use to me. Human beings are social. How well we communicate with others is fundamental to our lives. We communicate with our kids, our parents, our siblings/relatives, our neighbours, our co-workers, our clients/customers, etc. Everyone is unique and will take away useful things in their own way. I am confident everyone will find the course well worth their time and money."
