Notice About School Pick Up

As most of you are aware, Mrs. Dot Triplett retired at the end of the 2015-16 school year. One of her many duties was to help with the traffic at dismissal. For the first few days of this school year we have had several assistants working to fill her shoes, and help "train" parents and other family members about our dismissal pick-up procedure. Beginning next week, we will not be providing direction at dismissal. It is our hope that drivers will be able to use the same procedure we have always had in place at pick up: Once the parking lot is open each day, drivers will proceed in and fill up the spaces completely. They will then exit their vehicle and wait near the classes until the teacher dismisses the child to them. When exiting the parking lot, all cars need to turn right onto Highway 31.

Also, we will not be putting up a cable at the end of the day to remind children to stay with their teacher until they are dismissed to the person picking them up. We will be using an orange line as a reminder for students to stay with their teacher, and adults to wait for their child to be dismissed to them.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and help in keeping everyone safe.

Thanks,
Karen Haas

Catholic Schools

Catholic schools offer academic excellence and faith-filled education for students nationwide. National test scores, high school graduation rates, college attendance and other data show that Catholic schools frequently outperform schools in both the public and private sectors.

There is a strong demand for Catholic schools: waiting lists now exist in 27.5 percent of the schools, primarily in suburban areas. Across the nation, 14 new schools opened this year and more are projected to open in the coming years. Please see the info graphic for more information about Catholic schools.

Dear St. John Paul II Catholic School Parent,

The family atmosphere at St. John Paul Catholic School has always been a hallmark of our school. It is something that we value greatly. The atmosphere at dismissal is one example of the fellowship shared among families. To maintain an atmosphere that is enjoyed by all, we are asking that those who pick up students at dismissal not bring their pets. Even with the most responsible pet owners that we have, there is an unpredictability that can occur when pets are surrounded by many people and other pets.

Pets can be an important part of a child's life. So, it is understandable that the children want to share their pets, and have others see them. We will have just such an opportunity at our September 30th Family Friday. That morning's program will be about St. Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of animals, whose feast day is October 4th. We will invite families to bring their pets so that Father Tom can bless them. Guidelines to make this a safe and enjoyable event will be sent home at a later date.

Thank you for your cooperation.
