Grade 1
Mrs. Brock and Mrs. Chrisco's class has been working on the writing process.  They read books, then had to write a letter to the main character!  They did an amazing job!

Mrs. Brock & Mrs. Chrisco's class had so much fun on their Pajama Day.  They were so excited to read books and sing songs around the campfire.

Grade 4
Fourth grade students in Mrs. Clark's science classes have been studying about the forces of flight - lift, thrust, gravity, and drag.  Each student got to choose one out of five different paper airplanes to fold.  They were to think of these forces when choosing the one they wanted to try.  After flying them on Monday, we have our top 3 from each class, all of them choosing the Delta paper airplane.
Alex 15 yards; Addie 11 yards; Noah 10 yards
Chase 12 yards; Ellie 10 yards; Keira 9 yards

Mrs. Clark's fourth graders have completed their sculpture art!  After creating the shape they wanted with tin foil, students then used paper mache to harden the sculpture.  Several coats of pain later, they are complete!

Grade 2
Mrs. Naville's second graders finished up their unit in Social Studies about our country, past and present, doing famous American projects.  The students had to write a paragraph about their person, give reasons why they chose that person, and a timeline of their life.  They did a great job and learned a lot!

Second grade spent some time this week reviewing some of the more difficult math skills they've learned this year.  During this partner activity the students sorted and counted a large collection of coins and practiced writing the total amount using dollar sign and decimal.

Grade 6
The six grade graduates participated in an overnight retreat at CYO Camp Rancho Framasa in Nashville, IN.

SHOW YOUR JPII PRIDE AND GET "SPOTTED"

Thank you to all of the families that are showing their JPII Pride by placing a JPII Catholic School car decal on their vehicle!

Besides showing everyone that you are proud of your school, having a JPII School decal on your car gives you the opportunity to be "spotted" by Mrs. Haas and receive a non-uniform day pass for all of the students in the family. If Mrs. Haas sees a car with a JPII decal on it at a non-school event, she places a card for a non-uniform day under the windshield wiper of the vehicle. This card is turned in to school on the day the family chooses to be out of uniform. We once had a grandma receive a card, and her five grandkids from two different families all received a non-uniform day!

Two free decals were given to all students at the beginning of the school year. If you would like additional decals, just let us know and we will send one (or more) home with your child! Good luck getting "spotted"!

Kindergarten
Students from Mrs. Kist's class have been placing their Rainbow Rocks around our community hoping to spread kindness!

Campbell Labels For Education
We have some sad news. Campbell has come to the very difficult decision to wind down the
Labels for Education program. The good news is nothing changes this program year but there will be changes for next school year's program. The labels are used to order supplies for the school and this year we have been saving up for much needed art supplies. So far this year we've earned over 29,000 points with these labels! Please turn in any labels you may have ASAP so we can get them counted for this school year. You may turn them into your student's teacher, the office, containers at either Church campus, or to Becky Thompson. Thank you for all your help with the program and making it a success!

JPII HOPE Tuition Assistance Program
St. John Paul II Parish is committed to providing Catholic Education for the children of the school.  The parish lends support in many ways to meet the needs of students in our school.  The parish is committed to defraying costs of Catholic education through a parish subsidy.  In addition, for those families experiencing financial need, tuition assistance can be provided.  The funds available for tuition assistance are limited.  However, the parish will make every effort to financially assist any child deemed in need.

Applications for the 2016-17 school year are now available.  Please contact the school by email or phone to receive an application packet.

All applications will need to be completed and returned by May 26, 2016.
