HAVE FUN WHILE HELPING A GOOD CAUSE!

There is a lot of excitement about the HOPE fund dinner and trivia night that is being held January 30th in the school gym. It promises to be a good time!
(This is a 21 and over event.)

We will begin with dinner and drinks (beer and wine) at 7:00. The trivia will follow the dinner. Donations will be collected for the HOPE fund (formerly the Tuition Assistance fund) to ensure that all children have the opportunity to receive a Catholic education at JPII, and that all students have the tools they need to succeed.

Legislative Liaison

The Archdiocese of Indianapolis Office of Catholic Schools is asking each school to have a Legislative Liaison. This person's role would be to assist the Indiana Non Public Education Association (INPEA) and its legislative actions during the 2016 General Assembly. It is critical that Indiana's non-public schools are prepared to engage legislatively in support of schools and the many students who attend them. Legislative Liaisons and engaged members of the community are INPEA's grassroots network. These members and liaisons allow us to have a structure in place so the non-public school voice can be heard.

You can help by being that voice for St. John Paul II Catholic School. An example of one such way our Legislative liaison would help would be that he or she would be kept informed by the INPEA of legislature that would affect our school. The liaison would then encourage others (via email) to contact their representatives to voice their opinion on the matter.

If you are interested in being the Legislative liaison for St. John Paul II Catholic School and helping support legislation that is beneficial to our school, such as School Choice Scholarships (Vouchers) please contact Karen Haas.
Grade 1
Mrs. Brock and Mrs. Chrisco's first grade celebrated the 100th day of school with fun activities throughout the day.  In math and science they counted 100 pieces of several food items and made a delicious mixture for their snack.

Mrs. Bruggeman's first graders had fun celebrating their 100th day in first grade!  They had fun making hats with 100 things on them and trail mix with 100 pieces of food.  They also enjoyed eating the number 100 made out of a pretzel and two doughnuts.  According to first grade, it's fun being 100 days smarter!

Grade 5
The 5th grade students performed their production of "Toy Story" on Tuesday.  They worked hard to memorize lines, create props, and perform.  Their performances were great, and the school kids loved to see the show.

Grade 4
Ten students from the fourth grade had the opportunity to visit Indiana's Statehouse in Indianapolis.  In honor of School Choice Week, students representing schools from all over the state were invited to learn about Indiana's legislation and meet with their legislators.  Highlights of the trip included seeing Governor Mike Pence, being on the Senate floor, and watching members of the House of Representatives while they were in session.

Annual SpringFest 2016
"Save the Date & Plan to Participate"

It's that time of year again to start organizing for the "2016 SpringFest" which will be held on Sunday, March 6th, at 12:00 p.m. Please mark your calendars and pledge to get involved.
After all, YOU make it possible by donating your talent, time and/or treasures, in the areas noted below.

Class Themes/Donations:  Volunteer to coordinate a basket, and pick the theme!
Once themes have been selected,  items and/or money donations will be collected to create a large themed basket that will be auctioned off at the SpringFest.  All check or money donations will be used to purchase items for the class basket.

Please place all money donations in an envelope marked "Class Theme Donation" along with the name of your child's teacher and grade.  If you would like to donate an item toward a basket, simply drop the item off in the classroom, or contact the Class Basket Volunteer, once assigned.  We hope to receive all donations on, or before, March 4th.

Calling all Volunteers:  Each class will need 1 or 2 gracious parents to coordinate their basket.  If you would like to volunteer please send a note into the office with your contact information (name, phone number, email address, child's name and teacher) and you will be contacted directly via email.

Thanks to those who have already Volunteered and Donated Items!
