Friday, December 11 -  Noel was in Mrs. Bruggeman's 1st grade classroom having fun looking at the Nativity animals that the class made with the handprints!

Monday, December 14 -  Noel was lighting the candle for the 3rd week of Advent in
Mrs. Popp/Mrs. VanPelt's third grade classroom.

Tuesday, December 15 - Noel decided to play a game of Trouble with some of her friends in 3B.  She left a note apologizing for any trouble she has caused and wants everyone to know that she is trying her best to prepare her heart for the coming of Jesus at Christmas!

Wednesday, December 16 - Noel showed up in the gym this morning.  She is so happy to be a JPII Knight and to be a part of all the Advent activities with the students during this joyous season.

Grade 1
Mrs. Brock and Mrs. Chrisco's first graders were able to buy shoes, pajamas and underwear for their two Advent Angels ages 5 and 8.  They had enough money left over to get a $25 gift card for the babies at St. Elizabeth's Home and a $25 food angel from Kroger!  The children were so excited and proud that they had a part in helping so many others at Christmastime.

Good-bye Mrs. Kjersti Milliner!
Mrs. Milliner has resigned from her position at St. John Paul II Catholic School because of important family issues.  She has accepted another position with fewer hours to give her more time with her family. She first started teaching at St. Paul Catholic School in 1987, teaching 5th grade and then P.E., but most of her time has been spent teaching Kindergarten.  Her students and their parents remember her for the care and concern she has always shown for each child. Her last day here at JPII will be Friday, December 18.  We wish Mrs. Milliner the best and send our love and prayers to her and her family.

Grade 4
Fourth grade students read about the Feast of Our Lady of Guadeloupe, colored a picture of the Blessed Mother with the cloak of Juan Diego, and wrote notes on the back of their picture so they could share the story with their families!

Santa Shopping
Thank you to the many parent volunteers who helped with our Santa Shop on Friday. A big thank you to Santa's special shoppers, Tina Thomas and Whitney Wickens. The students had such a great time shopping, it was a fun day for all!

Kindergarten
Mrs. Kist's class celebrated Grinch Day.  They had a fun day filled with Grinch themed math and literacy activities.  The Grinch couldn't steal their Christmas Joy!!

Mrs. Milliner's class made Advent maps.  Each part of the Christmas story became more real to them as they "traveled" with the Holy Family.
Grade 5
In grammar, one of the big fifth grade standards is to learn about prepositions.  Through out the week, the fifth grade students in Mrs. Meyer's grammar class learned the prepositions by singing them to the tune of "Yankee Doodle".  They also flew paper airplanes in class and had to create sentences that included prepositions to show where their airplanes landed.
