Grade 5
Mrs. Meyer's 5th grade grammar classes completed sentence surgery this week while working on correctly using commas and quotation marks.  This activity also reviewed the correct use of capitalization and punctuation.  The groups of students were given a tongue depressor to note capitalization, long Band-aids to enter the correct punctuation, and circular Band-aids to mark the correct places for commas and quotation marks.  They had to "fix" their sentences using their doctor tools.  They had a great time while working on many grade level standards.

HALLOWEEN PARADE OF COSTUMES
Our annual Halloween Parade of Costumes will be on Friday, October 30, at 1:00  on the playground.  If your child needs help with a costume you are welcome to go to their classroom after 12:15.  In case of rain we will be in the gym.  Everyone is invited to attend!
Students in grades 1 to 6 will be non-uniform and will change into costumes after lunch.  The Parade of Costumes will be judged on the following in each class:  Funniest, Most Unique and Most Effort.
Kindergarten students will come to school in costume for the day. They will parade their costumes for everyone but will not be in the "contest".
Classroom Halloween parties will follow the parade.
The following is from the Parent & Student Handbook:
St. Paul Catholic School has a Halloween costume parade and party for each class. This is a traditional event and we welcome parents, relatives and friends. Please monitor costumes very carefully for good taste and appropriateness. No revealing or frightening costumes are allowed.
In addition, no weapons, including toy weapons can be brought to school.
