Mind Maps
As part of the enhanced writing curriculum this year, third graders are using mind maps. Mind maps are a prewriting tool used to organize one's thoughts in a visual manner. Click here for some examples of mind maps.

Big Family Splash

Join your friends on April 25 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for one last BIG Family Splash before the school year ends! The pool will be open with games and lifeguards. One price includes dinner and lots of other fun things, too (balloon maker, bounce house, arts & crafts, a DJ, bake sale, and more). You'll even have a chance to enter a really cool Cupcake Contest! The Grand Art Show

The Art Sharks invite you to the Grand Art Show on May 7, 2014, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Kelly Fine Arts Center. All Art Sharks students will have select art pieces on display. Please join us for an opening reception with refreshments and treats.

 

Gala Royale

The Gala Royale is officially sold out! Thanks to 2014 Gala co-chairs Jennifer Brown, Rebekah Selevan, and Renee Thompson for their tireless work on this year's event. The Gala is Saturday, April 12, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse. The dress code is "cocktail," which is dresses for ladies and jackets or suits for gentlemen. This is a mobile bidding event, so please come with your smart phone fully charged. JCDS Team Ellie 


Our first triathlon clinic will be this Saturday, April 12, at 10 am at JCDS and all interested children and parents are welcome. Please bring swim, run, and bike gear including bike and helmet. There will also be a clinic on May 10 at 10 a.m. Please register for the triathlon as soon as possible as the race is expected to sell out early. Registration is through the race website at  www.firstcoastkidstriathlon.com. In the team/group name, enter "JCDS Team Ellie." Please contact Kristin Taylor if you have any questions.

Veracross News

Due to security changes JCDS can no longer look up account passwords. If you need to retrieve your password you will now be sent a link to reset it. Please make sure that we have the correct email address in Veracross so that the new procedure will work properly. If you have any issues, please contact Matt Wilson.

Piano Specialists

Piano specialists Denise Homsley and Paulette Kilts are now scheduling summer lessons at JCDS. Summer lessons are important for current students and a great time for new young beginners to experience making music at the piano. Fall 2015 pre-registration will also begin in mid-April with both teachers. Mrs. Homsley can be contacted here and Mrs. Kilts can be contacted here

New Box Top Collection Contest

We're changing the format of the Box Top collection contest to a class team effort. For our May collection date the classroom that collects the most Box Tops will win a class ice cream sundae party! Keep cutting those Box Tops to support JCDS.
