A Celebration for Our Missionaries in El Salvador, Tom & Dianne Wilson

Dianne and Tom Wilson will be conducting Q&A sessions following the services the weekend of September 27-28 and we will be having a celebration in their honor after the 10:00 am service on September 28. It will be a fun event, including a piņata for the kids, a silent auction of arts & crafts from El Salvador, and a pot luck dinner. Tom and Dianne will speak at the event regarding their experiences in El Salvador over the last 18 months and will be accepting donations to support the many important projects they are working in in El Maizal. We hope you can join us.

Church Mouse Fair Saturday, October 18, 2014 from9:00 a.m. to 12 Noon

Attic Treasures ~ We will be looking for donations of good, clean usable items such as glassware, pictures, linens, craft supplies, tools, books, CD's, DVD's, puzzles, toys, jewelry and miscellaneous. (Please note that we cannot accept tires, paint, cribs, infant car seats or carriers, furniture, television sets, computers, encyclopedias, textbooks, or subscription magazines.) Drop Off Times for the above items will start on Sunday, October 12th after the 10:00 a.m. service until 1:00 p.m. and throughout the week - October 13 - 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please note: Due to limited space we are unable to take donations before Sunday the 12th.

Baked Goods ~ This is a best seller at our fair. We are looking for donations of pies, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and breads. In particular, we would like to encourage items in half sizes or smaller portions for the benefit of senior citizens who would enjoy some homemade goods without the necessity of eating a whole cake on their own. Drop Off Time Friday, October 17 from10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Crafters~ Crafter's have been working on items over the summer. If you've been working on items at home or would like to do so please let us know.

For more information, questions, suggestions, etc., please call Donna Alarie at (508) 847-8574 or email at Donnachesspals@gmail.com

Sign-up sheets for volunteers will be in the narthex in the next few weeks.

Heavy Lifters ~ Your help is truly needed on October 12 after the 10:00 a.m. service to move tables and chairs for set up and then on October 18 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. to take down same and load up the leftover unsold items into trucks.

Truck Drivers~ At least two pick-up trucks with drivers are needed to take leftovers to Savers in Lincoln Plaza in Worcester when the fair is over. We often have several boxes of books and miscellaneous items which won't all fit in cars easily.

Sorters~ During the week before the fair, even an hour of your time would be so much appreciated. All are welcome to bring friends with you! For high school students who need service hours this coming fall, this is a terrific opportunity to fill that need and also help us to help others!

Hope for Housing

Driving kids to their activities, working, doing errands, taking care of the house.....Face it. Our lives are busy. It's not that we don't want to help in our community, it's that sometimes there is not time. But there is one way you can help the homeless in Worcester County without adding onto your time or energy. Purchase a Hope for Housing card and you will be giving 3-5% of the value of the card to the Central Mass Housing Alliance's program aimed at helping the homeless. It's simple. Every 2nd and 4th weekend of the month starting on October 11th, we will be selling cards from the Big Y, Shaw's, Stop and Shop, CVS and Panera. It doesn't cost you anything extra. The value you pay is for the value of the card but 3-5% goes to CMHA. The hardest thing to remember is your checkbook. You can purchase the cards after each service in the narthex near the Mission Committee table. Please consider this ministry and help out the homeless in our area. Thank you.
