A Celebration for Our Missionaries in El Salvador, Tom & Dianne Wilson
Dianne and Tom Wilson, St. Francis parishioners serving as missionaries from the Diocese of Western Massachusetts in El Maizal, El Salvador, will be returning to the US in late August and staying through the month of September. They will be conducting Q&A sessions following the services the weekend of September 27-28 and we will be having a celebration in their honor after the 10:00 am service on September 28. It will be a fun event, including a piņata for the kids, a silent auction of arts & crafts from El Salvador, and a pot luck dinner. Tom and Dianne will speak at the event regarding their experiences in El Salvador over the last 18 months and will be accepting donations to support the many important projects they are working in in El Maizal. We hope you can join us.

For the past 6 years St Francis has been providing dinners and financial support to Dismas Family Farm. The fourth Wednesday of every month a group of St Francis members, drives out to Oakham, prepares dinner with the residents and then shares a meal with them. This has been a truly amazing experience for those who have participated. Over the years we have watched the farm continue to grow. The first year we were excited to tour the barn and see their chickens and small gardens, but now, six years later, they have a CSA program and supply the Westborough Farmers Market with vegetables, eggs and pork all summer long. Fresh Turkeys are also available at Thanksgiving.
Last spring, the mission committee and Dismas decided to try something new to help raise awareness of our partnership and the work that Dismas Farm does. We are excited to welcome a few of the residents on the weekend of September 13 & 14th after all services. They will be selling farm raised pork and because St. Francis sponsored the pigs last spring, we will be given a special sponsor rate. If you are interested, you can preorder meat by completing the order forms found on the mission table and or emailing khdiehl@charter.net.
You do not need to preorder, but quantities are limited and those with preorders will have preference. Please make checks payable to Dismas House
The mission of Dismas is to reconcile former prisoners to society, and society to former prisoners, through the development of a supportive community. The population served at the farm is the former prisoner population Dismas House specializes in, and will serve as an integral part of the program, providing additional vocational training and job related skill development in addition to case management in a substance free environment.
