Many thanks...

I want to thank everyone that gave so generously to support the mission in El Maizal, El Salvador. All together we raised  $810 for Tom & Dianne's mission work. They tell me that because of the donations they were able to order 40 hymnals to serve their 3 church groups. The rest of the money will be used to restore and re-equip the panaderia (bakery) in El Maizal.

Gracias mis amigos y amigas,

MaryAnn

Last minute request from Tom and Dianne...

They are in need of over the counter prenatal vitamins, gauze pads - medium to large size - and Tylenol.

If you are able to donate any of these items and can get them to the church office by this Wednesday, March 19th, Mary Ann DiPinto will pick the items up and take them with her when she leaves this weekend for El Maizal.

Lenten Book Study Blog Post 2...

Join Karen, the associate rector, as she blogs once a week through Lent offering reflections on the book Who's Got Time? Spirituality for a Busy Generation.  The book explores different spiritual practices we can use in our busy lives to connect with God.

Copies of the book can be obtained from the church office for $15.00 or ordered online through Amazon or Barnes and Noble for Kindle or Nook

Don't have time to read the book?  No problem.  Feel free to simply read the post and comment if you feel so moved or have something to share. Check out this week's post on connecting your body and spirit through exercise here.

30 Hour Famine this weekend...

The Youth will participate in the 30 Hour Famine this weekend, March 22nd through the 23rd. They will fast for 30 hours to raise both money for and awareness around ending world hunger. This year our Team goal is to raise $2,000. Donations may be made directly to a teen to help them meet their individual goal or to the Team as a whole. Checks should be made out to World Vision and can be left in Liz Korandanis' mailbox or given to an individual teen who is participating. To donate online go to www.30hourfamine.org and click on donate, then click on find a famine student or group for 2014. To donate to an individual teen's page enter their first and last name. To donate to the Team click on find famine group and enter ST FRANCIS YOUTH GROUP (all capitals with no punctuation). If you have any questions or difficulties donating online please contact Liz at lizkorandanis@gmail.com.  Thank you for all of your support!

Guess Who's Coming for Dinner...

It's that time of year again.  Our 6th annual dinner will be Saturday, April 5th at 6:00 p.m.  Reservations are in the Narthex and we ask that you reserve your spot by Sunday, March 23rd. For those who may not be familiar with this fun night, we meet in Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m. for light refreshments.  During this time you will learn of your dinner destination and be sent off to join other St Francis members for dinner. Our hosts all live within 5 miles of the church and prepare a wonderful dinner for you to enjoy, but more importantly you have the opportunity to meet and dine with fellow St Francis parishioners, in small groups of 6-8.  After dinner everyone convenes back in fellowship hall for dessert and coffee.  Every year we hear of new and rekindled friendships made during the evening.  We invite all to join us.  Any questions can be directed to Kathy Diehl, khdiehl@charter.net.

A Quiet Day in Lent...

Saturday, March 22nd from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at St. Clare House.  In the midst of busy lives where we are constantly on the run we don't often get the luxury of setting apart time to stop, breathe, and connect with God.  This Lent join Randy and Karen for a Lenten quiet day focused on spiritual practices such as contemplative prayer, praying with prayer beads, praying with icons, Taize chants, and lectio divina.

If you are planning to attend and haven't yet signed up please contact Randy at rkwilburn@comcast.net or Karen S. at Karen.safstrom@gmail.com.
