Prayers for those in need of healing...
It has been our practice over the years to update the prayers for those in need of healing on a regular basis.  When someone is put on the prayer list they are kept on for a month and then removed in order to keep the list from becoming too long.  We don't often get updates on those who are on the list, so we have found this to be a reasonable compromise.  There are some who have asked to have a name on indefinitely due to a particular illness or situation, and we have been happy to do that.

During this season of Lent we will be using a form of Prayers of the People from the Iona Community. We will not be reading aloud a list of names, however at the beginning of these prayers there will be an opportunity for anyone to say aloud the name or names of someone in need of healing.

We still have our Prayer Chain working, so if you have a request please email or contact the church office at stfran@verizon.net or 508-829-3344 and your request will be sent out to the chain via email.

If you would like to join the Prayer Chain please let Karen H. know and you'll be added to the list.

If you have any thoughts or questions regarding this change please contact Randy at 413-687-5568 or kwilburn@comcast.net.

Lenten Book Study Blog Post...

Join Karen, the associate rector, as she blogs once a week through Lent offering reflections on the book Who's Got Time? Spirituality for a Busy Generation.  The book explores different spiritual practices we can use in our busy lives to connect with God and the blog posts will offer short reflections on some of the ideas and spiritual practices discussed in it.

Copies of the book can be obtained from the church office for $15.00 or ordered online through Amazon or Barnes and Noble for Kindle or Nook

Don't have time to read the book?  No problem.  Feel free to simply read the post and comment.  Check out the first week's post here.

30 Hour Famine...

The Youth are once again participating in the 30 Hour Famine. Youth will fast for 30 hours to raise both money for and awareness around ending world hunger. The dates for the famine are March 22nd and March 23rd. This year our Team goal is to raise $2,000.  You can donate to either a teen individually to help them meet their individual goal or to the Team as a whole. Checks should be made out to World Vision and can be left in Liz Korandanis' mailbox or given to an individual teen who is participating.

To donate online go to www.30hourfamine.org and click on donate, then click on find a famine student or group for 2014. To donate to an individual teen's page enter their first and last name. To donate to the Team click on find famine group and enter ST FRANCIS YOUTH GROUP (all capitals with no punctuation). If you have any questions or difficulties donating online please contact Liz at lizkorandanis@gmail.com.  Thank you for all of your support!

Guess Who's Coming for Dinner...

It's that time of year again.  Our 6th annual dinner will be Saturday, April 5th at 6:00 p.m.  Reservations are in the Narthex and we ask that you reserve your spot by Sunday, March 23rd. For those who may not be familiar with this fun night, we meet in Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m. for light refreshments.  During this time you will learn of your dinner destination and be sent off to join other St Francis members for dinner. Our hosts all live within 5 miles of the church and prepare a wonderful dinner for you to enjoy, but more importantly you have the opportunity to meet and dine with fellow St Francis parishioners, in small groups of 6-8.  After dinner everyone convenes back in fellowship hall for dessert and coffee.  Every year we hear of new and rekindled friendships made during the evening.  We invite all to join us.  Any questions can be directed to Kathy Diehl, khdiehl@charter.net.
