on Independence Day by WB David Sweeley

Come join the brethren of Grove City Lodge #689 for their monthly breakfast on the 1st Saturday of the month. The month of July puts their breakfast on Saturday, July 4, 2015.

Wear your patriotic shirt and join in the fellowship. Breakfast is served from 8-10 a.m.

Special Olympics

Rain did not deter the spirits of the brethren of the 14th District who met at Jesse Owens Stadium on June 26 at The Ohio State University for the opening of the 2015 Special Olympics. This is the 44th year that Special Olympics has been held at Ohio State. The Ohio Grotto Association did their usual fine job of feeding all the brethren and their families the traditional hamburgers and brats as the rain continued before the parade.

Instead of aprons, the brethren from all parts of Ohio displayed a variety of umbrellas at the opening ceremonies as just about 270 brethren paraded around the track along with MWB Steven Cokonougher, Grand Master of Masons and the officers of the Grand Lodge of Ohio. Following the parade, MWB Cokonougher presented to Special Olympics Ohio with a check in the amount of $180,000 collected from the Lodges in Ohio.

The brethren of Ohio Freemasonry have been supporting Special Olympics since MWB Jerry Razor was Grand Master in 1978 with donations totaling the amount of nearly $3 million. We thank RWB Mike Cecil, Chairman and the Special Olympics Committee for their help and the brethren of the 14th District for maintaining the hospitality tent during Saturday and Sunday.
