14th District Officers
Association Meeting
| WB Michael Saum, President of the 14th Masonic District Officers Association, called the meeting to order on Thursday, February 26th at 7:00 p.m. which was held at Groveport Lodge. There were four current Masters, and representatives from 15 Lodges along with all District Officers and five Past Presidents in attendance. WB Saum thanked WM Dan Cogley of Groveport Lodge for hosting the meeting. One of the items brought up at the meeting included WB Tim Rice talking about the District Reception honoring MWB Steve Cokonougher, Grand Master of the Grand Lodge on March 14th. He's requesting that the current Masters arrive by 5:15 to the Villa Milano for photos with the Grand Master. Also discussed was the District Golf Outing being held this year at Mill Creek Golf Club at 7259 Penn Rd., Ostrander, OH on Friday, August 28th. The cost will be $80.00 per golfer and the deadline will be August 21st. A flyer has been created and the District Officers will be explaining more at the Inspections and their visitations to the Lodges.
An announcement was made about University Lodge #631 inviting all to the Re-Consecration Ceremony to celebrate their 100th anniversary on Saturday, March 14th (see article below).
One of the items covered by the District Deputies was that now that the Grand Lodge has authorized raffles and such (voted on at Grand Lodge 2014), all Lodges considering a 50/50 or other such raffle need to make sure they are following the edict governing such sent by the Grand Master. The edict needs to be strictly followed.
It was also announced that the Masonic Night at Aladdin Shrine will be Monday, April 27th at 3850 Steltzer Rd., Columbus.
And one last item discussed was that if Lodges are going to maintain a website, they need to make sure the email addresses and information and dates are current. Potential members looking to join a Lodge need updated information to contact Lodge officers and if the Lodge information is not updated, that can be a big deterrent for their membership and potential candidates.
The next meeting of the District Officers Association is Thursday, May 28th with Whitehall Lodge hosting at 7:00 p.m.

Scottish Rite Makes Trip to Canton and Dayton and Spring 2015 Reunion Planned
|
Four Officers along with the Active, Illustrious Brother Ebby Brewer, of the Valley of Columbus, were among the over 30 brethren who traveled to Canton on January 31st. It was the Six Valley Degree Day. A few candidates started their Scottish Rite experience with the viewing of the 4th Degree by video. The degrees were presented by the following; Valley of Canton-19th Degree, Valley of Steubenville-6th Degree, Valley of Cambridge-31st Degree, Valley of Akron-25th Degree, Valley of Youngstown-28th Degree, and the Valley of Cleveland-17th Degree. It was very interesting to witness how degree work is done in other areas. One Brother from Columbus was excited to view the 25th Degree and therefore completing his Passport!
The Valley of Dayton presented it's Degree Day on Saturday, February 14th with the 11th and 20th Degrees presented by the Valley of Dayton. After lunch, the members of the Seventh DeMolay District (Hamilton, R. H. McMillan, C. J. Hoover, Vandalia, and Eaton Chapters) performed the DeMolay degree before the attendees and two new candidates. The Valley of Cincinnati brethren portrayed the NEW 31st Degree, My Brother's Keeper.
Saturday, April 18th, 2015, the Spring Reunion will present the 4th, 6th, 16th, 24th (video), and the 25th degrees at the John Gilbert Reese Center at OSU Newark, 1209 University Dr. Newark 43055 on that date. FREE Bus Transportation will be available from the Aladdin Shrine at 3850 Steltzer Rd. for the first 38 members who register by calling the office at 614-766-2272. Doors will open at 8:00 a.m. with coffee and doughnuts. The Reunion will start at 8:45 a.m. Everyone, EXCEPT Candidates, is required to make a prepaid $10.00 lunch reservation before April 8th. by calling the office.
Brother Sherwood Connor, is the Honoree. He is a 32nd Degree and SMA (Special Merit Award Recipient), and an active member of the Newark area.
Petitions can be obtained from from the Valley of Columbus Website, www.valleyofcolumbus.com . The cost is $100.00 which will cover the dues ($90.00) for 2015. Lodge Officers and Past Master's who are not Scottish Rite members may join for 1/2 off as long as it is indicated/marked on the petition because of a fund established by a generous donation.
Don't forget your Passport so it can be stamped. Past dues can be paid that day by cash, check or credit card! The day will conclude by 3:00 p.m.
The Fall Reunion is scheduled for October 31st, 2015 to be held at Villa Milano Restaurant, 1630 Schrock Rd., Columbus. The degrees to be presented are the 4th, 18th, 22nd (Video), 27th, and 32nd. Set your calendars to join us!
